Do patients with psoriasis are at higher risk for atherogenity? A case-control study.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease that is common in both adult and childhood. Patients with psoriasis are at significant risk for the development of many comorbid conditions, including cardiovascular diseases.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the cardiovascular risk status and serum lipid parameters in patients with psoriasis and to determine the risk of cardiovascular disease by atherogenic indices obtained accordingly.

Left Ventricular Hypertrophy: Etiology-Based Therapeutic Options.

Determining the etiologies of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) can be challenging due to the similarities of the different manifestations in clinical presentation and morphological features. Depending on the underlying cause, not only left ventricular mass but also left ventricular cavity size, or both, may increase. Patients with LVH remain asymptomatic for a few years, but disease progression will lead to the development of systolic or diastolic dysfunction and end-stage heart failure.

Thalassemia-free and graft-versus-host-free survival: outcomes of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for thalassemia major, Turkish experience.

We report the national data on the outcomes of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for thalassemia major (TM) patients in Turkey on behalf of the Turkish Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation Group. We retrospectively enrolled 1469 patients with TM who underwent their first HSCT between 1988 and 2020 in 25 pediatric centers in Turkey. The median follow-up duration and transplant ages were 62 months and 7 years, respectively; 113 patients had chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) and the cGVHD rate was 8.

Method: Members of the European Network for Drug Allergy and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology interested in drug allergy participated in an online questionnaire on pre-vaccination screening and management of allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines, and literature was analysed.

Results: No death due to anaphylaxis to COVID-19 vaccines has been confirmed in scientific literature.

Objective: Fingertip-reactive hyperemia-peripheral artery tonometry (RH-PAT) is an emerging novel noninvasive method for evaluating endothelial function. We aimed to evaluate endothelial function with fingertip-reactive hyperemia by RH-PAT in symptomatic patients undergoing elective coronary angiography and to assess the relationship between the degree of endothelial dysfunction (ED) and the presence and the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD).

Summary: Recently, 2 important guidelines for the diagnosis and management of atrial AF have been published by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS). Although the evidence-based recommendations and statements are quite similar, there are some important differences between the ESC and CCS guidelines for AF.

Insights Into the Vaginismus Treatment by Cognitive Behavioral Therapies: Correlation With Sexual Dysfunction Identified in Male Spouses of the Patients.

To examine retrospectively sexual dysfunction in the male spouses of 425 female patients who had presented to our clinic and were diagnosed with primary vaginismus. Seven questions related to age, profession, educational status, number of marriages, personality structure, sexual experience, and sexual dysfunction history were directed to the spouses of the 425 female patients presenting to our clinic for vaginismus treatment between 2015 and 2018. Men reporting sexual dysfunction were evaluated by a urologist, and the necessary treatment was initiated.
