Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common psychiatric condition among children and adolescents, often associated with a high risk of psychiatric comorbidities. Currently, ADHD diagnosis relies exclusively on clinical presentation and patient history, underscoring the need for clinically relevant, reliable, and objective biomarkers. Such biomarkers may enable earlier diagnosis and lead to improved treatment outcomes.

Apparent diffusion coefficient and magnetic resonance imaging characteristics in predicting response to radiosurgery in patients with vestibular schwannomas.

Objective: Predicting treatment response in patients with vestibular schwannomas (VSs) remains challenging. This study aimed to evaluate the use of pre-treatment normalized apparent diffusion coefficient (nADC) values and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging characteristics in predicting treatment outcomes in patients with VSs undergoing radiosurgery.

Methods: The MR images of 44 patients with VSs who underwent radiosurgery at our institution were retrospectively reviewed, and the patients were categorized into tumor control ( = 28) and progression ( = 16) groups based on treatment response after treatment initiation, with a median follow-up duration of 29.

Over a career spanning three decades, Hamilton provided critical medical care, especially to women, at the Azariah Smith Memorial Hospital in Aintab, overcoming legal, cultural, and political obstacles to become one of the first women licensed to practise medicine in the region.

[Purpose] This study aimed to compare the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and microcurrent electrical neuromuscular stimulation on pain relief and knee function following total knee arthroplasty. [Participants and Methods] This was a prospective, single-center, three-group parallel study. Thirty-five patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were divided into transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, microcurrent electrical neuromuscular stimulation, and control groups.

Assessing Residual Moisture After Sterilization as an Overlooked Source of Intraoperative Bacterial Contamination in Knee Intra-articular Reconstructions: Evaluating the Reliability of Routine Procedures and Tests.

Background: Contamination of sterilized surgical instruments is not a typically suspected source of increased infection rate, especially if no abnormalities in the sterilization process are detected.

Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to report increased infection rates after knee ligament reconstructions due to undetectable sterilization process errors leading to residual moisture, not limited to a specific surgical tool. It was hypothesized that (1) residual moisture on surgical tools due to autoclave overloading would not be detected by autoclave self-diagnostics, chemical and biological tests, or organoleptic assessment and (2) this kind of contamination may elevate infection rates, especially in knee intra-articular reconstruction procedures.

We report a case of a 73-year-old male PD patient presenting with fever, abdominal pain, and bowel ileus, initially raising concerns for organ perforation due to pneumoperitoneum.

The impact of COVID-19 on HIV care: a comprehensive analysis of patient and healthcare providers experiences at the largest HIV treatment center in Ghana.

Background: We sought to determine how the COVID-19 pandemic affected care delivery for HIV patients in Ghana.

Methods: Guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we performed a cross-sectional study between May and July 2021 among 40 people living with HIV and 19 healthcare providers caring for HIV patients. In-depth interviews and focus group discussions were done with HIV patients, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, data scientists, administrators, and counselors to ascertain barriers and facilitators to HIV care during the pandemic.

Aim: This study aimed to compare the prognostic performance of the risk models for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receiving atezolizumab and bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) as first-line treatment.

Methods: Among 449 patients included in this retrospective multicenter study, we compared the prognostic performance of 13 risk models for the 12-month and 18-month survival status using area under the curve (AUC), net reclassification improvement (NRI), and relative integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) analysis.
