We sought to evaluate the expression of HSP27 and HSP90 chaperones in renal cell carcinomas as a target for cancer therapeutics.A total of 127 clear cell renal cell carcinomas stratified according to the Mayo Clinic SSIGN (size, staging, grading, and necrosis) risk groups (good, 1; poor, 5) and 20 cases with metastases, were available. Immunostaining for both HSP27 and HSP90 was performed on tissue microarrays.

[An unusual case of post-traumatic adult complex foot deformity].

A peculiar clinical presentation of post-traumatic complex left foot fracture deformity is presented in this report as the result of a motorbike accident. Notwithstanding the significant deformity following forefoot fractures, the patient complained only of the recent onset of metatarsalgia. Of particular interest, is that this severe foot injury as well following deformity was overlooked, probably because patient had sustained head injury that was the main problem to treat due to life risk.

Acute compartment syndrome is both a life and limb threatening surgical emergency, caused by an increase in compartment contents due to either trauma or surgery. We illustrate a foot compartment syndrome, clinically diagnosed, that took place after direct injury during a football match. Compartments release through fasciotomies promptly relieved symptoms.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the possibility of reducing CPAP pressure levels and improving patient adherence to CPAP therapy by stiffening the soft palate tissue with a Pillar palatal implant. A case of an isolated astragalo-scaphoid dislocation following a fall from a motorbike is reported. Due to the diagnostic obscurity of the full extent of the injury, computed tomography (CT) with 3D reconstruction was utilized to precisely visualize the articular condition and revealed the presence of small intra-articular bone fragments and calcaneo-cuboid subluxation. Furthermore, the detailed imaging offered valuable information for preoperative planning.

Distal locking is considered a difficult stage of the endomedullary tibial nailing procedure. A new rapid, simple, and inexpensive freehand aiming technique is presented that uses a galvanized metal grid. The grid is positioned to overlay the skin of the medial cutaneous face of the tibia, giving to the underlying bone under fluoroscopy a pattern that resembles a chessboard.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a specific clinical condition that characterises unexplained disabling fatigue and a combination of non-specific accompanying symptoms for at least 6 months, in the absence of a medical diagnosis that would otherwise explain the clinical presentation. Other common symptoms include headaches, myalgia, arthralgia, and post-exertional malaise; cognitive difficulties, with impaired memory and concentration; unrefreshing sleep; and mood changes. Similar disorders have been described for at least two centuries and have been differently named neurasthenia, post-viral fatigue, myalgic encephalomyelitis and chronic mononucleosis.
