Knee osteoarthritis is a prevalent degenerative joint disease leading to pain, stiffness, reduced mobility in the knee, and muscle weakness. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is typically the preferred surgical treatment option for moderate to severe osteoarthritis. A deeper understanding of quadriceps and hamstring muscle activation after TKA is needed to monitor patient prognosis postoperatively.

Background: Tobacco use has emerged as a major public health issue with increasing tobacco-related morbidity and mortality. Despite evidence that even brief tobacco counseling by health care professionals is effective in motivating a tobacco user to quit, there was a lack of customized tobacco counseling training module (TCTM) for students of dentistry in their existing curriculum. This study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of a customized TCTM in improving KAASS in tobacco counseling among undergraduate dental students.

Background: Guillain Barre syndrome (GBS) is an immune-mediated peripheral neuropathy characterized by the demyelination and axonal damage of the peripheral neurons. The pathogenesis of GBS involves the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier after which pro inflammatory cytokines attack the neurons in the peripheral nervous system.
Aims: This study aims to evaluate five markers, namely matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), and SFLT-1, which could have a role in the inflammatory response in patients with GBS and healthy controls.

Evidence suggests that prolonged blue-light exposure can impact vision; however, less is known about its impact on non-visual higher-order functions in the brain, such as learning and memory. Blue-light-blocking lenses (BBLs) claim to reduce these potential impacts. Hence, we assessed structural and functional hippocampal alterations following blue-light exposure and the protective efficacy of BBLs.

Purpose: Morphometric analysis of the patella and the patellar ligament is crucial in diagnosing and surgical corrections of knee injuries and patellofemoral joint disorders. Dimensions of the patella and the patellar ligament are frequently used in implant design and ACL reconstruction. This study aims to obtain detailed morphometric data on the patellar ligament and its localization based on gross anatomical dissections in the adult cadavers.

Background: Prolonged and overlapping phases of wound healing in diabetes are mainly due to the redox imbalance resulting in the chronicity of the wound. Photobiomodulation therapy works on the principle of absorption of photon energy and its transduction into a biological response in the living tissue. It alleviates the cellular responses, thereby improving the mechanism of wound healing in diabetes.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of choline and DHA or exposure to environmental enrichment in obese adult and aging rats on alterations in body mass index, serum lipid profile and arterial wall changes, despite stopping high fat diet consumption and interventions during adulthood.
Methods: 21 day old male Sprague Dawley rats were assigned as Experiment-1 & 2 - PND rats were divided into 4 groups with interventions for 7 months (n = 8/group). NC- Normal control fed normal chow diet; OB- Obese group, fed high fat diet; OB + CHO + DHA- fed high fat diet and oral supplementation of choline, DHA.
