Palmoplantar hyperhidrosis is a functional disease with an unknown pathogenesis, making it challenging to find a lasting and effective treatment. This article reports a case of a 43-year-old patient with palmoplantar hyperhidrosis treated with computed tomography (CT)-guided radiofrequency neurotomy (RFN) of bilateral T3-4 sympathetic chain combined with bilateral L3 sympathetic ganglion. The optimal puncture level and skin entry point were selected, and measurements were taken using a CT tool to determine needle depth, angle, and distance from the midline.

Background: Premature infants are at high risk for neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) and secondary infections. This study aims to investigate the association between immunoinflammatory markers-the systemic immune inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and neutrophil-to-albumin ratio (NAR)-and the risk of developing RDS in premature infants.

Methods: A total of 2164 premature infants were enrolled in this retrospective study.

Recurrent small intestinal perforation from gastric mucosal heterotopia: A case report.

World J Gastrointest Surg

December 2024

Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Meizhou People's Hospital, Meizhou 514031, Guangdong Province, China.

Background: Gastric mucosal heterotopia (GMH) is a rare, typically asymptomatic condition characterized by ectopic gastric mucosa in tissues outside the stomach. However, it can lead to severe complications, including small intestinal perforation. This case report highlights the unique clinical presentation of GMH-induced recurrent small intestinal perforations, which has been rarely documented.

Background And Aim: In this study, a transfer learning (TL) algorithm was used to predict postoperative recurrence of advanced gastric cancer (AGC) and to evaluate its value in a small-sample clinical study.

Methods: A total of 431 cases of AGC from three centers were included in this retrospective study. First, TL signatures (TLSs) were constructed based on different source domains, including whole slide images (TLS-WSIs) and natural images (TLS-ImageNet).

Int Immunopharmacol

January 2025

Dongguan Key Laboratory of Environmental Medicine, The First Dongguan Affiliated Hospital, School of Public Health, Guangdong Medical University, Dongguan 523808, Guangdong, PR China. Electronic address:

Curcumin is a hydrophobic polyphenolic compound with potent anti-inflammatory properties. However, whether it can achieve therapeutic effects by alleviating neuroinflammation in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and its potential mechanism are still unknown. This study explored the effects of curcumin on neuroinflammation in dopaminergic neurons and deciphered its direct target in the histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6)-Nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich repeat, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) pathway, revealing the potential role of curcumin in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
