Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) refers to methods that allow a radiation therapy plan to be adjusted based on images obtained during the treatment. Using cutting-edge imaging methods such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET), ART can adjust the treatment plan in response to observed changes in anatomy and even biology while the patient is receiving treatment. The backbone of ART is intensity-modulated RT (IMRT), which permits better sparing of normal critical organs while still delivering a uniform dose to target tumor volume.

Malformations of cortical development (MCD) are a group of disorders affecting the normal development of the human cortex and are significant causes of delay in psychomotor development and epilepsy in children. Lissencephaly (smooth brain) forms a major group of brain malformations. Microtubules help in the migration of neuronal cells.

Background This study aimed to assess the efficacy of different radiation therapy regimens in treating patients with symptomatic bone metastases. Methodology A retrospective study was conducted by assigning patients with symptomatic bone metastases from different primary cancers into three groups, namely, Arms A, B, and C. The radiation dose delivered in each arm was as follows: 8 Gray (Gy) in a single fraction for Arm A, 20 Gy in five fractions at the rate of 4 Gy per fraction for Arm B, and 30 Gy in 10 fractions at the rate of 3 Gy per fraction for Arm C.

Positron emission tomography (PET) is an integral part of the imaging of solid tumors in today's oncology practice. The most commonly used PET radiotracer is 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG). FDG PET has imaging characteristics of a high tumor-to-background uptake ratio and is used in the detection of primary as well as metastatic sites.

Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is the 23rd most common cancer worldwide and one of the three leading cancers in North and Northeast India. GBC has inferior outcomes due to its advanced presentation and poor response to chemotherapy. The approximate 5-year survival rate for metastatic GBC is less than 5%, with a median survival of around 6 months.

Article Synopsis
  • Hairy cell leukemia variant (HCLv) is a rare type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that leads to symptoms like fatigue, abdominal pain, anemia, and splenomegaly, and poses a risk for infections.
  • It is crucial to distinguish HCLv from similar disorders, such as classic hairy cell leukemia, as they have different biological characteristics and treatment responses.
  • Treatment with standard drugs like cladribine and rituximab has shown poor effectiveness for HCLv, highlighting the urgent need for more effective treatment options through further research.

The most prevalent kind of alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, commonly known as male or female pattern hair loss, affects both men and women, with the frequency rising with advancing years. Even though practicing dermatologists and hair experts frequently encounter it, it might be one of the most challenging disorders to treat since choosing a course of action frequently requires a comprehensive analysis of several variables and moral judgment. Effectiveness, side effect profiles, practicability, promoting compliance, and treatment cost are the most important factors to take into account, especially given the chronic nature of androgenetic alopecia.

The peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is a non-tunneled central venous catheter placed in the upper limb venous system, mainly in the basilic vein, and the tip terminates in the superior vena cava (SVC). A PICC is a preferred modality of central venous access in oncology, as it is associated with minimal discomfort and can be kept in situ for up to one year. Despite multiple advantages, it is also associated with complications.

Synchronous adenocarcinoma of the stomach with lymphoma is extremely rare. We report a case of a 65-year-old male patient with synchronous adenocarcinoma of the stomach with nodal marginal zone lymphoma. Initial endoscopic biopsy suggested invasive moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma and a locoregional disease, per contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) scans.

Assess the interfraction dose variations of the organs at risk (OARs) in carcinoma cervix high dose rate (HDR) computed tomography (CT)-guided intra cavitary brachytherapy (ICBT). 120 CT scans of 40 patients who had undergone three fractions of ICBT (7 Gy/fr) were analyzed. Dose to Point A and the minimum doses to the volumes of 2, 1, and 0.

Introduction: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a simple, minimally invasive, and effective tool that can be used to accurately diagnose benign and malignant lesions of the breast. The International Academy of Cytologists Yokohama system and Modified Masood's Scoring Index (MMSI) are two important systems to categorize palpable breast lesions on FNAC. The goal of the present study was to evaluate the IAC Yokohama system and MMSI in the cytological diagnosis and classification of diverse breast lesions and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of both systems through cyto-histological correlation.

Gallbladder neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are rare tumors of the biliary system. These neoplasms express somatostatin receptors, and hence radiolabeled somatostatin analog 68Ga-DOTANOC is used as a PET radiotracer in detection and staging. Gallbladder NEN cannot be differentiated from an adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder based on clinical symptoms or routine radiological imaging such as ultrasound or CT.

Objective: The objective of the study is to assess the physiologic uptake of testes in patients undergoing F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose (FDG) position emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scans for various malignancies other than testicular malignancy.

Materials And Methods: The testicular uptake of F-FDG expressed as the standardized uptake value (T) was measured on PET/CT images in 320 men with no known testicular pathology from July 2019 to March 2020 at Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur. The ratio of maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of the testis (T) to SUVmax of muscle (M) T/M ratio and to SUVmax of the liver (L) T/L ratio was calculated using SUVmax of right adductor muscle and liver, respectively.
