Background: In India, and other low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), the majority of emergency care is provided by frontline providers without specialty training in emergency medicine. In order to fill this need, we developed the Indian Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Medicine (PGDEM), a 1-year skills-focused course for practicing doctors. This article describes the curriculum development and implementation as well as the follow-up survey conducted to gauge the impact of the course.

Large diurnal intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuation is a single most independent risk factor for glaucoma progression besides raised IOP. The major limitation of Goldman applanation tonometer (GAT) is its inability to measure night IOP without disturbing the patient's sleep. We discussed the methods available for the 24-hour IOP monitoring and its relevance in glaucoma.

Purpose: Escalated BEACOPP (bleomycin, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone) improves overall survival (OS) in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) relative to ABVD (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine) therapy. However, the associated higher cost and toxicity discourage clinicians from prescribing it. Identifying high-risk patients and administering escalated BEACOPP remains an effective strategy.

Unlabelled: A case of high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA) and high level of 5-oxoprolinuria were noticed in an elderly female of 66 years who had multiple risk/precipitating factors and recovered well with N-acetyl cysteine infusion. This is reported in view of its rarity and to create awareness of this entity among medical students and practicing physicians who handles such cases in emergency room or critical care unit. Moreover they have to remember and investigate the cases of metabolic acidosis for 5-oxoprolinuia especially in susceptible individuals who are on paracetamol with or without other precipitating factors.

Purpose: This phase 1b study investigated the maximum tolerated dose (MTD; primary objective), safety, pharmacokinetics, and antitumor activity (secondary objectives) of eribulin combined with carboplatin in patients with solid tumors and, in particular, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: Two dose-escalation schemes were evaluated with carboplatin, at an area under the curve (AUC) of either 5 or 6 mg/mL·min. Eribulin, dose-escalated from 0.

Pancreatic incidentalomas are increasingly recognized entities that occur as a fallout of widespread availability of high definition imaging technology. These lesions offer diagnostic dilemmas to both clinicians and radiologists alike. Nevertheless, it is the advancement in diagnostic radiology that comes to the rescue in the management of these not-so-uncommon lesions.

Metastases to cervical lymph node are fairly common in differentiated thyroid cancer. Fatty liver disease affects up to one out of every two adults in the western world. Data from animal and human studies implicate added sugars (eg, sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup) in the development of fatty liver disease and its consequences. Added fructose in particular, as a component of added sugars, may pose the greatest risk for fatty liver disease.
