Background: The "gender determination" which is an important human identification procedure not only helps in establishing the biological profile from skeletal and dental remains but also in facial reconstruction of unidentified victims.
Aim: The aim of this study is to analyze predominant types of lip prints (cheiloscopy), accuracy of mandibular canine index (MCI) (odontometric), and facial index in the study population and to identify whether any correlation among the above parameters could help forensic dentistry in solving crimes.
Materials And Methods: A pilot study was conducted in 100 individuals, 50 males and 50 females aged between 20 and 25 years.

Occipital condyle syndrome is a rare cause of pain in the head which is characterized by severe and persistent unilateral suboccipital headache with unilateral hypoglossal nerve palsy. We report an elderly female who presented with dysarthria and suboccipital headache. On further evaluation, she was found to have a solitary bone metastases from thyroid cancer.

Acute abdominal pain in women of reproductive age is common and frequent cause for visit to emergency department which warrants emergent evaluation. We present the case of a 23-year-old nulliparous women presenting with post-coital haemoperitoneum secondary to a ruptured corpus luteum cyst. This is a rare case demonstrating the need to elicit sexual history in patients presenting with an acute abdomen in emergency department.

Background: Despite the increase in sensitivity and specificity of immunoassay technique over years, analytical interference remains to be major area of concern. The interfering substances are endogenous substances that are natural, polyreactive antibodies as heterophilic or auto antibodies, or human anti-animal antibodies together with other unsuspected binding proteins that are unique to the individual. Interfering substances can interfere with the reaction between analyte and reagent antibodies in immunoassay resulting in false positive or negative values.

Thallium is a toxic heavy metal often involved in criminal poisonings and occasionally in accidental poisoning. Here, we report a case of acute, nonintentional thallium poisoning due to thallium-contaminated alternative medicine for its rarity and to create awareness about the combination of rapid, diffuse alopecia with neurologic and gastrointestinal symptoms among practitioners, professionals, public, and policymakers.

Background And Aims: OncoGel (Protherics Salt Lake City, Inc, Salt Lake City, UT) is paclitaxel (PTX) formulated in a thermosensitive, biodegradable copolymer for focused cytotoxicity and radiosensitization. A phase 2a study suggested that EUS-guided PTX injection into esophageal tumors subsequently receiving radiotherapy was safe.
Methods: In an international multicenter, prospective, randomized phase 2b study, patients with local or locoregional adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the esophagus/gastroesophageal junction and eligible for neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) before surgery were randomized to standard of care (SOC) plus EUS-guided PTX injection or SOC alone.
