High-flow priapism is an uncommon condition typically resulting from penile or perineal trauma, due to laceration of cavernosal artery. We present a case of 24-year-old male who presented with post-traumatic painless priapism. Ultrasound showed hematoma with arterio-cavernosal fistula.

Purpose: Very few studies have demonstrated the rituximab biosimilarity in terms of efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and immunogenicity in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in India. Therefore, we compared the efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and immunogenicity of our biosimilar rituximab with the reference rituximab (Ristova, Roche products [India] Pvt. Ltd) in patients with DLBCL in India.

In India, and many low-middle income countries (LMICs), emergency medicine (EM) remains a poorly defined specialty and an unregulated field of clinical practice. Recognition of the attitudes, understanding, and expectations of patients presenting to Indian EDs will be crucial to the continued development of EM as a specialty. This is a multicenter, prospective, cross sectional study of adult and pediatric patients presenting to the ED in three geographically distinct regions of India.

Introduction: Thrombosed arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are either treated by thrombectomy or pharmaco-mechanical thrombolysis with or without percutaneous balloon angioplasty. In this study, we have described an effective and economical technique of salvaging these fistulae using a 20-22-gauge spinal needle and urokinase and have named it direct percutaneous thrombolysis (DPT).
Materials And Method: This prospective study comprised of 148 patients out of which 120 patients presented with AVF thrombosis and were divided into two groups; those with no obvious stenosis on ultrasound ( = 38) and second with venous stenosis ( = 82).

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is a rare disease with a myriad of presentations. In this case series of four patients from South India, we describe three classical manifestations of the disease (mucosal, muscular, and serosal). Two of them had obstructive jaundice as a presenting complaint due to duodenal obstruction, whereas one had massive upper gastrointestinal bleed.

Vibrio is heterotrophic ubiquitous marine bacteria that plays dual role as putative halobiont and potential pathogen. Environment and diseases are inextricable hence the role of vibrio as a potential pathogen in the natural environment must be comprehended. Hence the present study aims at investigating the pathogenicity of Vibrio owensii on the post larvae of Litopenaeus vannamei.

The current study focuses on developing a tumour-targeted functionalised nanocarrier that wraps hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The guanidine carbonate and curcumin are immobilised on the surface of 3-aminopropyl-triethoxy silane (APTES)-decorated hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles (HMSNP), as confirmed through XPS and NMR analysis. XPS analysis demonstrates that the shape of the hysteresis loops is modified and that pore volume and pore diameter are consequently decreased compared to control.

The main aims in the development of a novel drug delivery vehicle is to efficiently carry therapeutic drugs in the body's circulatory system and successfully deliver them to the targeted site as needed to safely achieve the desired therapeutic effect. In the present study, a passive targeted functionalised nanocarrier was fabricated or wrapped the hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) to prepare APTES-coated hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles (HMSNAP). A nitrogen sorption analysis confirmed that the shape of hysteresis loops is altered, and subsequently the pore volume and pore diameters of GaC-HMSNAP was reduced by around 56 and 37%, respectively, when compared with HMSNAP.

Background and objective Percutaneous balloon dilatation followed by long-term internal-external biliary catheter (IEBC) placement is the standard radiological management for postoperative hepaticojejunostomy (HJ) strictures. The treatment is considered successful when cholangiography shows a free flow of contrast across the anastomosis and the patient passes a "clinical test". However, these tests may not be suitable predictors of long-term successful treatment outcomes.

There is a paucity of data on epidemiology along with an incomplete registry of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), nephrologist workforce, and variability among the countries of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The study is an observation, descriptive study which aimed to describe current ESKD burden, nephrologist density, and kidney care infrastructure in GCC. Responses to a questionnaire-based survey obtained from representatives of the Nephrology Societies of GCC countries were analyzed.

Background: Homologous recombination repair (HRR) accurately repairs the DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and is crucial for genome stability. Genetic polymorphisms in crucial HRR pathway genes might affect genome stability and promote tumorigenesis. Up to our knowledge, the present study is the first to investigate the impact of HRR gene polymorphisms on BC development in South Indian women.

Intraoperative injuries to the ureter can occur in complicated colorectal and gynaecologic procedures in minimal access surgery. The majority of these go unrecognised at the time of the operation, which can be disastrous to the patient. The routine use of ureteric stents is controversial, with some studies showing that stents only enable detection of ureteric injury but do not prevent it.

Background: The frequency of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) incidence varies among different populations suggesting the involvement of genetic components towards TNBC development. Previous studies have reported that BRCA1/2 germline mutations confer a lifetime risk of developing TNBC. However, there is hardly any information regarding the common pathogenic variants (PVs) in BRCA1/2 genes that contribute to TNBC in the Indian population.

Tunneled hemodialysis catheters are the lifeline to patients on maintenance hemodialysis with failed arteriovenous fistulas. However, thrombosis and infection are the main causes of reduced longevity of these accesses. According to IDSA guidelines, catheter-related infection with Pseudomonas and fungi are absolute indications for catheter removal.

Background: Phenytoin is the most commonly reported aromatic Anti-Epileptic Drug (AED) to cause Cutaneous Adverse Drug Reactions (CADRs). Cutaneous adverse drug reactions may be immune or non-immune mediated. It has been observed that predisposition is multifactorial and that gene mutations alone cannot be the cause.

Phenytoin (PHT) is one of the most commonly reported aromatic anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) to cause cutaneous adverse reactions (CADRs), particularly severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs). Although human leukocyte antigen is associated with PHT-induced Steven Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrosis (SJS/TEN) in East Asians, the association is much weaker than it is reported for carbamazepine (CBZ). In this study, we investigated the association of pharmacogenetic variants of the HLA B gene and with PHT-CADRs in South Indian epileptic patients.
