This study aimed to identify risk factors for noninvasive ventilation (NIV) failure in <30 weeks' gestation preterm neonates and compare morbidity in patients with and without NIV failure. This study included preterm neonates <30 weeks' gestation who received NIV support for respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Demographic and clinical characteristics were compared between infants with and without NIV failure within the first 72 hours after birth.

A biomechanical study of locking spongious screws and failure rates are higher than expected in plate fixation.

Locking plates have a rapidly growing process especially in the past decades and results are satisfactory especially in the osteoporotic bones compared to non-locking compression plates. There are many forms of failure in the fracture fixation of locking plates, and screw pull-out is one of the main failure reasons. In this study, we aim to investigate pull-out failure in locking plates using locking spongious screws.

The Role of Central Sensitization in Autoimmune Connective Tissue Diseases: A Comparative Cross-Sectional Study.

Objective: To investigate the central sensitization (CS) in patients with autoimmune connective tissue diseases (ACTDs) and its relationship with disease activity, laboratory findings, medical treatments, organ involvements, and comorbidity.

Methods: One hundred and eleven patients with ACTDs and 40 healthy individuals were included. All patients were divided into three groups in terms of their diseases: Sjögren's syndrome (SS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

The study was conducted as a multicenter, retrospective study between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Material And Methods: In this retrospective case-control study, a total of 815 pregnant women including 546 healthy pregnant women [serum total bile acid (TBA) level < 10 μmol/L, control group], 185 patients with mild cholestasis [serum TBA level < 40 μmol/L, mild intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) group] and 84 patients with severe cholestasis (serum TBA level ≥ 40 μmol/L, severe ICP group) were evaluated. The groups were compared regarding demographic data, clinical characteristics, SIRI (neutrophilcount*monocytecount/lymphocyte count), and other laboratory data.

Resting-State EEG Alpha Rhythms Are Related to CSF Tau Biomarkers in Prodromal Alzheimer's Disease.

Patients with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's disease (ADMCI) typically show abnormally high delta (<4 Hz) and low alpha (8-12 Hz) rhythms measured from resting-state eyes-closed electroencephalographic (rsEEG) activity. Here, we hypothesized that the abnormalities in rsEEG activity may be greater in ADMCI patients than in those with MCI not due to AD (noADMCI). Furthermore, they may be associated with the diagnostic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) amyloid-tau biomarkers in ADMCI patients.

Objectives: In this study, we retrospectively examined the bleeding that occurred in the 5-year patient series.

Materials And Methods: One thousand seven hundred seventy-five patients who underwent septorhinoplasty surgery between 2019 and 2023 were included in the study, and 28 of these patients who presented with bleeding complications were examined. All patients underwent open-technique septorhinoplasty surgery with or without concha intervention and were discharged the next day after overnight hospitalization.
