Purpose: To develop a deep learning model to accurately detect anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to evaluate its effect on the diagnostic accuracy and efficiency of clinicians.

Methods: A training dataset was built from MRIs acquired from January 2017 to June 2021, including patients with knee symptoms, irrespective of ACL ruptures. An external validation dataset was built from MRIs acquired from January 2021 to June 2022, including patients who underwent knee arthroscopy or arthroplasty.

Osteochondral defects pose a great challenge and a satisfactory strategy for their repair has yet to be identified. In particular, poor repair could result in the generation of fibrous cartilage and subchondral bone, causing the degeneration of osteochondral tissue and eventually leading to repair failure. Herein, taking inspiration from the chemical elements inherent in the natural extracellular matrix (ECM), we proposed a novel ECM-mimicking scaffold composed of natural polysaccharides and polypeptides for osteochondral repair.

The meniscus is a fibrocartilaginous tissue of the knee joint that plays an important role in load transmission, shock absorption, joint stability maintenance, and contact stress reduction. Mild meniscal injuries can be treated with simple sutures, whereas severe injuries inevitably require meniscectomy. Meniscectomy destroys the mechanical microenvironment of the knee joint, leading to cartilage degeneration and osteoarthritis.

Chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI) is commonly secondary to prior lateral ankle ligament injury, and the concomitant latent syndesmosis injury would prolong recovery time and increase the risk of substantial traumatic arthritis. However, differentiating syndesmotic injury from isolated lateral ankle ligament injury in CLAI cases is difficult by conventional physical and radiological examinations. Methods: From January 2018 to January 2020, 64 consecutive patients with chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI) and GJL (Beighton score ≥ 4) were prospectively enrolled into two groups: those who underwent the open modified Broström procedure (open group, n = 32) and those who underwent the arthroscopic modified Broström procedure (arthroscopic group, n = 32).
