Appendicolithiasis is a condition characterized by a concretion in the vermiform appendix. Appendicoliths are found in 10% of patients with acute appendicitis, but they are seen more frequently in perforated appendicitis and in abscess formation. We herein report a case of acute appendicitis due to appendicolithiasis, which mimics acute disorders of the genitourinary tract and causes diagnostic confusion.

Background: We investigated the effects of iloprost and pentoxifylline on skeletal muscle ischemia-reperfusion injury in a rabbit model.
Methods: Forty New Zealand white rabbits were grouped into four. In Group 1, iloprost was continuously infused starting half an hour before the reperfusion following a 2-hour ischemia formed by abdominal aortic occlusion, and it was continued during the 4-hour reperfusion period.

Methods: We performed percutaneous pulley release with the use of a 16 gauge needle in 25 fingers of 22 patients (16 females, 6 males; mean age 54 years; range 45 to 72 years). Open exploration was added to the procedure in 10 patients to determine the efficacy and safety of the technique.
