Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between 5,10- methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphisms and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in a sample of Turkish children.
Study Design: MTHFR gene polymorphisms were assessed in 40 patients with ADHD and 30 healty controls. Two mutations in the MTHFR gene were investigated using polymerase chain reactions and restriction fragment length polymorphisms.

Objectives: Percutaneous closure of secundum atrial septal defects (ASD) has become an important alternative treatment to surgery. We evaluated our clinical experience with, and short-term results of transcatheter closure of ASDs with the Amplatzer septal occluder in adult patients.
Study Design: The study included 52 patients (36 women, 16 men; mean age 33±14 years; range 14 to 69 years) who underwent transcatheter ASD closure with the Amplatzer occluder device.

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate epidemiological, clinical, and microbiological features of infective endocarditis (IE) in a tertiary university hospital.
Study Design: The study included 72 patients (31 women, 41 men; mean age 45+/-16 years; range 18 to 80 years) who were diagnosed as having definite IE, according to the modified Duke criteria, between 2004 and 2007. Data were reviewed on age, sex, underlying heart disease, predisposing conditions for bacteremia, echocardiographic and microbiological findings, treatment, complications, and mortality.

Study Design: We evaluated 32 pericardiocenteses performed under echocardiography guidance and with the apical approach in 29 patients (15 men, 14 women; mean age 49 years; range 18 to 72 years). Indications were diagnostic purpose, pericardial tamponade, or symptomatic pericardial effusion.

Study Design: A total of 439 patients (351 males, 88 females; mean age 57+/-12 years) with ST-elevation AMI were interviewed within 48 hours of hospitalization. Patients were pain-free and hemodynamically stable at the time of interview.

Objectives: The present study was designed to demonstrate the regional distribution prevalence and management differences of certain pediatric neck masses in this region of the country.
Patients And Methods: Fifty-five patients with pediatric neck masses, who were diagnosed and treated surgically were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: Analysis of 55 patients showed that congenital neck masses were the most common pathology in pediatric neck masses (47%), followed by infectious and tuberculous lymphadenopathies (24%).

The main purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the number of circumvallate papillae and the bitter taste threshold with age. The study group consisted of 10 women (age range, 60-80) and 14 men (age range, 60-85) and the control group of 15 young women (age range, 18-25) and 15 young men (age range, 17-20); the total number of subjects was 54. The number of circumvallate papillae was counted by direct observation with the naked eye; bitter taste thresholds were evaluated by the three drop forced-choice method with an ascending series, using quinine sulfate dehydrate as the bitter agent.
