Intracranial fungal infection is a rare entity. This disease is mainly concentrated in dry and hot climates, such as India, Africa, California, and usually occurs in patients with immune deficiency. Now, we retrospectively analyzed the clinical manifestations, pathologic manifestations, imaging features, surgical methods, and prognosis of 4 patients with fungal infection who were confirmed by postoperative pathology.

Microvascular decompression (MVD) has a satisfactory safety, and it is the only surgical treatment for neurovascular compression diseases, such as hemifacial spasm, trigeminal neuralgia, and glossopharyngeal neuralgia, from the perspective of etiology. Bilateral dilated and fixed pupils have long been regarded as a sign of life threatening, which is common in patients with cerebral herniation due to cranial hypertension. However, transient dilated pupils after MVD have not been previously reported.

Introduction: Current evidence indicates endovascular intervention is a safe and effective treatment for peripheral artery disease of the lower extremity. However, the clinical outcome of endovascular intervention for femoropopliteal lesions has been shown to be affected by the status of tibial runoff. It remains unclear whether endovascular intervention for tibial runoff is associated with additional benefits.

The transcriptional regulators YAP and TAZ play important roles in development, physiology, and tumorigenesis and are negatively controlled by the Hippo pathway. It is yet unknown why the YAP/ TAZ proteins are frequently activated in human malignancies in which the Hippo pathway is still active. Here, by a gain-of-function cancer metastasis screen, we discovered OTUB2 as a cancer stemness and metastasis-promoting factor that deubiquitinates and activates YAP/TAZ.

We present two cases of spontaneous left main stem coronary artery dissection. One was underdiagnosed with suboptimal percutaneous coronary artery intervention followed by acute vessel occlusion again during the hospitalization. The other one was identified and confirmed by intravascular ultrasound, followed by conservative medical treatment, with completed healing of SCAD during two-month follow up.

Background: Estimating quality of life (QoL) in patients with breast cancer is of importance in assessing treatment outcomes. Adjuvant endocrine therapy is widely used for hormone receptor-positive (HR+) early-stage breast cancer (EBC), and evidence suggests that aromatase inhibitors (AIs) may improve QoL for these patients. This study evaluated QoL in postmenopausal Chinese patients with HR+ EBC taking AIs.

Aim: The aim of this study was to systematically review the relevant literature to develop a benchmark for the incidence of adjacent segment degeneration (ASDeg) and adjacent segment disease (ASDis) following the posterior dynamic stabilization (PDS) procedure and to investigate whether conclusions can be made with regard to the isolated PDS procedure in reducing the risk of ASDeg and ASDis compared with fusion, and with regard to the role of additional PDS devices implanted adjacent to fusion in protecting from ASDeg and ASDis caused by the neighboring fusion.
Material And Methods: We retrieved electronic databases of Medline, Ovid and Cochrane Central Registry of Controlled Trials, combined with a supplemental hand search. Thirty-one articles met our inclusion criteria.

To investigate dopamine transporter in major depressive disorder and Parkinson's disease, the authors obtained single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) brain images from 13 patients with major depression, 17 Parkinson's disease patients, and 10 healthy volunteers by using 99mTc-TRODAT-1. The authors found the 99mTc-TRODAT-1 radio signal in the striatum was reduced in the majority of patients with major depressive disorder, and this decrease was even more severe in patients with Parkinson's disease. The results support the hypothesis of dopamine hypofunction in major depressive disorder and suggest that deficient dopamine transporter may be involved in the etiology of severe major depressive disorder.
