Background: Acute non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (ANVUGIB) constitutes a prevalent emergency within Gastroenterology, encompassing 80%-90% of all gastrointestinal hemorrhage incidents. This condition is distinguished by its abrupt onset, swift progression, and notably elevated mortality rate.
Aim: To gather clinical data from patients with ANVUGIB at our hospital in order to elucidate the clinical characteristics specific to our institution and analyze the therapeutic effectiveness of endoscopic hemostasis.

Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) is essential for fighting against viruses and bacteria, but how cGAS is involved in host immune response remains largely elusive. Here, we uncover the crucial role of cGAS in host immunity based on a Pseudomonas aeruginosa pulmonary infection model. cGAS mice showed more heavy bacterial burdens and serious lung injury accompanied with exorbitant proinflammatory cytokines than wild-type mice.

We recently reported that dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) was involved in inflammation-related depression. Nucleus accumbens (NAc) inflammation is implicated in the development and progression of depression, but its regulatory mechanism remains largely unknown. In a mouse model of NAc neuroinflammation induced by bilateral NAc injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), we observed that NAc neuroinflammation triggered depressive-like behaviors, and D3R expression decline and microglial activation in the NAc.

We previously demonstrated that the dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) inhibitor, NGB2904, increases susceptibility to depressive-like symptoms, elevates pro-inflammatory cytokine expression, and alters brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in mesolimbic dopaminergic regions, including the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), nucleus accumbens (NAc), and ventral tegmental area (VTA) in mice. The mechanisms by which D3R inhibition affects neuroinflammation and onset of depression remain unclear. Here, using D3R-knockout (D3RKO) and congenic wild-type C56BL/6 (WT) mice, we demonstrated that D3RKO mice displayed depressive-like behaviors, increased tumornecrosisfactor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and IL-6 levels, and altered BDNF expression in selected mesolimbic dopaminergic regions.

Previous evidence has revealed that long non-coding RNAs serve important functions in numerous types of cancer when dysregulated, including in gastric cancer (GC). In the present study, reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analysis was used to detect the expression of small integral membrane protein 10 like 2A (linc00086) in GC tissues and non-cancerous tissues, and the expression of linc00086 in GC cell lines was analyzed. A RT-qPCR assay was used to assess linc00086 expression levels in GC cell lines following treatment with 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC), which is a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor.

Previous studies have demonstrated that methamphetamine (MA) influences host immunity; however, the effect of MA on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced immune responses remains unknown. Mast cells (MCs) are considered to serve an important role in the innate and acquired immune response, but it remains unknown whether MA modulates MC activation and LPS-stimulated cytokine production. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of MA on LPS-induced MC activation and the production of MC-derived cytokines in mice.

Methamphetamine (METH) elicits neuroinflammatory effects that may implicate its regulatory role on the microglial immune response. However, the mechanism underlying this remains unclear. In the present study, the effects of METH on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) productions were tested in BV-2 cells and primary microglial cells.

Background: The altered expression and function of dopamine receptor D3 (D3R) in patients and animal models have been correlated with depression disease severity. However, the morphological alterations and biological effects of D3R in the brain after inflammation-induced depressive-like behavior remain elusive.
Methods: In the present study, we ascertained the changes of D3R expression in the brain regions after depressive-like behavior induced by peripheral administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Accumulating studies have revealed that the dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) plays an important role in methamphetamine (METH) addiction. However, the action of D3R on METH-mediated immune response and the underlying mechanism remain unclear. Mast cells (MCs) are currently identified as effector cells in many processes of immune responses, and MC activation is induced by various stimuli such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

In our recent study, we found that the expression levels of total xylose-binding proteins (XBPs) were up-regulated significantly in activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs); however, the denomination, distribution, and function of the XBPs were uncharted. Herein, 70 XBPs from activated HSCs and 64 XBPs from quiescent HSCs were isolated, identified and annotated. A total of 30 XBPs were up-regulated (all fold change ≥ 1.

Tamoxifen resistance is a major clinical problem for ER-positive breast cancer, but the underlying mechanism is not completely elucidated. In the present study, we reported that mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphatase 1 (MKP-1), a member of the family of MKPs, is involved in tamoxifen resistance. We found that MKP1 expression increased in tamoxifen resistant MCF7 cells.

Emerging evidence indicates that the redistribution of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) across the bilayer of the plasma membrane is an important molecular marker for apoptosis. However, the effect of PE on apoptosis and the underlying mechanism of PE remain unclear. In the current study, MTT and flow cytometric assays were used to examine the effects of PE on apoptosis in SMMC‑7721 cells.
