Background: Tauro-hyodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid of potential interest for treating cholestatic liver diseases. Bile acid pool is enriched with this bile acid during acute administration in patients with interrupted enterohepatic circulation. The aim of our study was to check the effect of chronic administration of tauro-hyodeoxycholic acid on biliary lipid composition and secretion in man with intact enterohepatic circulation.
