Objective: The aim of the study was to compare the different surgical approaches of two centers on outcomes of live donor laparoscopic nephrectomy.
Material And Methods: The first 98 patients of each centre who underwent laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) or hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (HALDN) were included in the study. The following data were used for analyses: donor age, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), transfusion requirement, operative time, ischemia time and postoperative complications.

Introduction: Patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) have impaired cognitive functions, including attention, verbal and visual memory, and visual-spatial abilities as well as executive function But some studies did not show any disturbance in executive function of patients with OCD. To date, only few studies have been conducted on neuropsychological functioning of patients with panic disorder (PD). There are limited studies to reach a definite conclusion on executive functions of patients with OCD and those with PD.

Background: Migraine pathophysiology involves a neuronal mechanism that is closely associated with the neuronal activation of peripheral trigeminal nociceptive pathways. It also involves a vascular mechanism that is supported by studies concerning the presence of migraine with aura in various vascular diseases. Migraine is associated with silent infarct-like lesions and white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) that can be encountered during magnetic resonance imaging.

The role of flexible ureteroscopy (FURS) in the management of nephrolithiasis has increased due to the improved armamentarium. However, FURS still represents a challenging technique limiting its diffusion. Similar to previous experiences in laparoscopy, recently developed robotic devices may significantly compensate for the ergonomic deficiencies of FURS.

Chiari malformation type I (CM-I), described by a descent of the cerebellar tonsils, is assumed to be a neurological developmental disorder. The aim of the present study was to investigate morphological variance in cerebellar sub-structures, including gray matter (GM), white matter (WM), and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), using magnetic resonance (MR) images with three-dimensional (3D) fractal dimension (FD) analysis in patients with CM-I. MRI data of 16 patients and 15 control subjects were obtained, and structural complexity analyses were performed using a box-counting FD algorithm.

Background/aims: Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a common complication of haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), with the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) as one of the main target organs. There is a lack of consensus regarding the site in GIT with the highest sensitivity for biopsy. The present study aimed to determine the endoscopic and histological findings in acute GVHD.

Background: We present our experience with the double switch operation in sixteen patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries.
Methods: We enrolled 16 patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries operated by a single surgeon between 1995 and 2015. The mean age was 25 months (range 4 to 72 months) and the mean body weight was 8.

Background: Vitiligo and acne vulgaris, commonly affecting the face, have significant psychological effects and impair the quality of life of the affected individuals. Because of their negative effect on physical appearance, these conditions may act as a potential barrier to social relationships and cause social anxiety.
Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the social anxiety, quality of life, anxiety, and depression levels of acne and vitiligo patients with facial involvement and compare these levels with healthy controls.

Objectives: This descriptive study investigated pain levels of orthopedic surgery patients, and how this pain is perceived by their relatives and nurses.
Methods: The study was carried out with 150 patients, 150 relatives and 50 nurses to determine pain intensity levels of orthopedic surgery patients and perceptions of this among their relatives and nurses. Intensity of pain was measured on a 0 to 10 visual analogue scale.

Background: This study was undertaken to determine whether methylprednisolone could improve myocardial protection by altering the cytokine profile toward an anti-inflammatory course in patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
Methods: Forty patients who were scheduled for elective CABG surgery were randomized into two groups: the study group (n = 20), who received 1 g of methylprednisolone intravenously before CPB, and the control group (n = 20), who underwent a standard CABG surgery without any additional medication. Blood samples were withdrawn prior to surgery (T1) and then 4 hours (T2), 24 hours (T3), and 36 hours (T4) after CPB.

Chiari Malformation type I (CM-I) is a serious neurological disorder that is characterized by hindbrain herniation. Our aim was to evaluate the usefulness of fractal analysis in CM-I patients. To examine the morphological complexity features of this disorder, fractal dimension (FD) of cerebellar regions were estimated from magnetic resonance images (MRI) of 17 patients with CM-I and 16 healthy control subjects in this study.

Introduction: Atherosclerosis is an intimal disease which affects large and medium size arteries including aorta and carotid, coronary, cerebral and radial arteries. Calcium accumulated in the coronary arterial plaques have substantial contribution to the plaque volume. The aim of our study is to investigate the relationship between coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factors and coronary arterial calcification, and to delineate the importance of CACS in coronary artery bypass surgery.

Objectives: We present our single center results of two commonly used surgical techniques, the modified single-patch and double-patch technique for the repair of the complete atrioventricular septal defect.
Methods: We enrolled 49 patients with complete atrioventricular septal defect who were operated by a single surgeon between 2004 and 2014. The modified single-patch technique was performed in 32 cases (group S), whereas the defect was repaired with the double-patch technique in 17 patients (group D).

Unilateral absence of the pulmonary artery (PA) is a rare congenital abnormality. Although a traditional 2-stage approach with a preceding systemic-to-PA shunt followed by a definitive repair is mandatory in patients with absent extrapericardial pulmonary arteries, more creative solutions are necessary when 1-stage repair is concerned. We present a novel technique for repairing the absent intrapericardial right pulmonary artery (RPA) with a contralateral PA autograft segment interposition.

Objectives: Myringosclerosis is an irreversible pathological healing mechanism of the tympanic membrane which can result in the formation of sclerotic plaques. Antioxidant treatment is a recognised prevention therapy and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), lycopene, and grape seed extract (GSE), were used in this manner.
Methods: Forty-four Wistar rats were used in this experiment, and, following myringotomies, the animals were randomly divided into four groups.
