Evaluation of pediatric spinal ependymomas: A 25-year retrospective observational study.

This study aims to evaluate the clinical and radiological features, histopathological characteristics, treatment modalities, and their effectiveness, as well as long-term follow-up results of pediatric spinal ependymomas treated at a single institution. In this retrospective study, medical records of 14 pediatric patients (3 females and 11 males) who were surgically treated for spinal ependymoma in our institution between 1995 and 2020 were reviewed. Data regarding age, gender, presenting symptoms and signs, radiological findings, postoperative status, extent of resection, histopathological grading, recurrence, tumor growth, seeding, and adjuvant treatment were collected and analyzed.

The association of pre-photorefractive keratectomy Schirmer-1 test value with postoperative corneal epithelial thickness, ocular surface discomfort, and visual acuity.

Purpose: To investigate the association of pre-photorefractive keratectomy Schirmer-1 test value with post-photorefractive keratectomy central corneal epithelial thickness, ocular surface disease index score, and uncorrected distance visual acuity.

Methods: Patients were categorized according to preoperative Schirmer-1 value: the normal Schirmer Group (n=54; Schirmer-1 test value, >10 mm) and the low Schirmer Group (n=52; Schirmer-1 test value, between 6 and 10 mm). We analyzed ablation depth, visual acuity, result of Schirmer-1 test (with anesthesia), tear film break-up time, ocular surface disease index score, central corneal epithelial thickness, and spherical equivalent refraction.

The evaluation of retrobulbar fat tissue in Graves' orbitopathy with shear-wave ultrasound elastography.

Purpose: To evaluate retrobulbar adipose tissue of patients with active and inactive Graves' orbitopathy (GO) by shear-wave ultrasound elastography (SWE).

Methods: Followed-up in our ophthalmology clinic due to GO, 72 eyes of 36 patients and 38 eyes of 19 healthy controls were included in this cross-sectional case-control study. Graves' patients were divided into two subgroups under clinical activity score (CAS): active Graves' orbitopathy (AGO) (CAS ≥ 3) and inactive Graves' orbitopathy (IGO) (CAS < 3).

Cardiologists' Awareness of the Relationship Between Periodontal Diseases and Cardiovascular Diseases: A Region-Wide Survey in Türkiye.

Objective: The relationship between oral health and general health has gained increased attention in recent years. This study sought to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of cardiologists in Türkiye concerning the link between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Methods: After a pilot test, a modified survey was dispatched to 1,894 practicing cardiologists in Türkiye.

Evaluation of Main Lacrimal Gland through Shear-wave Ultrasound Elastography in Patients with Low Schirmer Value.

Objective: To compare main lacrimal gland values through shear-wave elastography (SWE) in patients with low Schirmer value and unspecified Sjögren's syndrome (SS) with healthy controls.

Material And Method: Admitted to the ophthalmology department with Schirmer value <10 mm, randomly selected 46 eyes of 46 patients evaluated for Sjögren's syndrome (SS) in the rheumatology department between December 2022 and April 2023 were classified as low Schirmer group (LSG). Randomly selected 48 eyes of 48 patients at a similar age with Schirmer value >10 mm were included as controls.

Comparison of relative safety and efficacy of handmade S-shaped catheter and conventional catheters in concomitant carotid and coronary angiography.

Background: We have evaluated the feasibility of concomitant carotid angiography after coronary angiography with the same catheter, and the practicality, safety and success of image acquisition with respect to conventional catheters.

Method: 248 patients have been enrolled in the study, who have been evaluated with both carotid and coronary angiography in a time period between 2010 and 2017. 117 of them were evaluated with right diagnostic catheters and 131 of them were evaluated with handmade S shaped (HMS) catheters.

Successful Retrograde Visualization and Recanalization of Chronic Ostial Occlusion of the Left Main Coronary Artery via a Saphenous Vein Graft With the Drilled Balloon Technique.

We are representing a case of successful retrograde recanalization of a chronic ostial occlusive lesion of the left main coronary artery (LMCA) via a saphenous vein graft. A 70-year-old male patient, with a history of previous (3 years ago) coronary artery bypass surgery, was evaluated with coronary angiography because of his recent anginal symptoms. Left main coronary artery could not be visualized from the aortic root.

Efficacy and Safety of "Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Angiography" with Right Transradial Access versus Left Transradial Access and Femoral Access: a Retrospective Comparative Study.

Objective: Over the past 10 years, the rate of patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery has increased twofold in cases of coronary angiography. Today, transradial access is the first choice for coronary angiography. We aimed to compare the efficacy and reliability of radial versus femoral access for coronary angiography in post-CABG surgery in this study.

Systemic retinoids such as isotretinoin and acitretin are associated with numerous side effects but are therapeutically valuable in dermatological practice. Several studies have reported the wound-healing effects of treatment with concurrent systemic retinoids in addition to surgical treatments. Herein, we describe two patients with scar dehiscence that developed after initiation of systemic retinoid treatment following cutaneous surgery.

Intracoronary focal nitroglycerin injection through drilled balloon is very effective in the resolution of coronary spasm versus into proximal coronary artery: A prospective randomized comparison study.

Background: In this study, we aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of NTG administration via catheter and local NTG infusion through a perforated balloon in order to prevent coronary spasm from developing during percutaneous intervention.

Method: The study began with 1:1 randomization into two groups of a total of 1688 patients scheduled for PCT. A total of 91 patients in the proximal group who developed lesions received 500 mcg NTG through a catheter, while 85 patients in the local group with lesions developed during the procedure received 500 mcg local NTG through a perforated balloon.
