Factors influencing paramedics' and emergency medical technicians' level of knowledge about the 2015 basic life support guidelines.

Background: This study aimed to determine the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) knowledge level and factors affecting the current CPR knowledge level among EMTs and paramedics working in the Kayseri 112 emergency health system.

Methods: This survey aimed to reach all paramedics and emergency medical technicians working in the 112 emergency health system in Kayseri province. The data collection consists of sociodemographic/occupational characteristics, CPR training and practice characteristics and 20 four-choice CPR knowledge questions.

The Effects of Tacrolimus on Tissue-Specific, Protein-Level Inflammatory Networks in Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation.

Systems-level insights into inflammatory events after vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) are critical to the success of immunomodulatory strategies of these complex procedures. To date, the effects of tacrolimus (TAC) immunosuppression on inflammatory networks in VCA, such as in acute rejection (AR), have not been investigated. We used a systems biology approach to elucidate the effects of tacrolimus on dynamic networks and principal drivers of systemic inflammation in the context of dynamic tissue-specific immune responses following VCA.

Reoperation does not provide a survival advantage in patients with recurrent Glioblastoma treated with irinotecan/bevacizumab treatment.

Background: Treatment options for recurrent glioblastoma (GBM) have limited efficacy. Although reoperation is useful for both the confirmation of the diagnosis of recurring disease and the relief of the symptoms, its effect on survival is unknown. The aim of this study was to evaulate the impact of second surgery in recurrent GBM.

Pharmacokinetics and Biodistribution of Tacrolimus after Topical Administration: Implications for Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation.

Aim: The high doses of oral tacrolimus (TAC) (1,2) necessary to prevent acute rejection (AR) after vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) are associated with systemic adverse effects. The skin is the most antigenic tissue in VCA and the primary target of AR. However, the short-term use of topical TAC (Protopic®), as an off-label adjunct to oral TAC, to treat AR episodes pro re nata (PRN), has yielded inconsistent results.

Background: Atezolizumab (ATZ) has demonstrated antitumor activity and manageable safety in previous studies in patients with locally advanced or metastatic platinum-resistant urothelial carcinoma.

Objective: To compare the real-life experience and data of clinical trials on ATZ treatment in metastatic urothelial carcinoma.

Design, Setting, And Participants: Patients with urothelial cancer treated with ATZ after progression on first-line chemotherapy from an expanded access program were retrospectively studied.

A novel diagnostic tool for the detection of bladder cancer: Measurement of urinary high mobility group box-1.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of urinary High Mobility Group Box-1 (HMGB1) level as a noninvasive tool that can be potentially used for diagnosis and during follow-up in patients with bladder cancer patients.

Method: The study was conducted in a total of 121 participants including 61 patients diagnosed with primary bladder cancer, 30 patients with an acute urinary tract infection and 30 healthy controls. Age, gender and urinary HMGB1 levels of the study groups were evaluated.

Demonstration of technical feasibility and viability of whole eye transplantation in a rodent model.

Introduction: Whole eye transplantation (WET) holds promise for vision restoration in devastating/disabling visual loss (congenital or traumatic) not amenable to surgical or neuroprosthetic treatment options. The eye includes multiple tissues with distinct embryonic lineage and differential antigenicity. Anatomically and immunologically, the eye is unique due to its avascular (cornea) and highly vascular (retina) components.

Role of native Thiol, total Thiol and dynamic Disulphide in diagnosis of patient with prostate cancer and prostatitis.

Background: Our study investigates whether Native Thiol, Total Thiol and disulphide levels measured in serum of patients with prostate cancer and prostatitis and of healthy subjects, have any role in differential diagnosis.

Materials And Methods: Patients followed up for histopathologically verified diagnosis of prostate cancer and prostatitis in 2016-2017 at the Medicalpark Gaziantep Hospital Urology Clinic were included in the study. Native Thiol (NT), Total Thiol (TT), Dynamic Disulphide (DD) levels in serum were measured by a novel automated method.

Lack of Any Role of Systemic Inflammatory Responses in Predicting Muscle Invasion by Bladder Cancer.

Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate if there is a relation between platelet:lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) values and tumour histology and spread in bladder cancer cases.

Materials And Methods: Bladder cancer patients undergoing TUR-M operation, with histopathologically verified diagnosis, followed-up and treated at the Private Medical Park Gaziantep Hospital between 2010 and 2015, were included in the study. NLR and PLR values were calculated using complete blood count data obtained at the first presentation.

Large abdominal cystic masses: Report of seven cases.

Cystic abdominal tumours are encountered quite often and are diagnosed more frequently due to the availability of better imaging possibilities. Presentation of huge cysts has become rare as most of them are diagnosed and treated early. But we still have patients with enlarged abdominal cysts; majority with cases of serous cystadenomas of the ovary.

In vitro release and In vivo biocompatibility studies of biomimetic multilayered alginate-chitosan/β-TCP scaffold for osteochondral tissue.

Biomimetic three-layered monolithic scaffold (TLS) intended for the treatment of osteocondral defects was prepared by using alginate, chitosan and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) to study drug release behavior of the alternative drug delivery system and to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of the scaffold. Dexamethasone sodium phosphate (Dex) as a model drug was incorporated into the scaffold by solvent sorption method and in vitro release studies were conducted. In addition, the scaffold was implanted into the defects formed in the trochlea of Sprague-Dawley rats to assess the healing potential of the TLS on the osteochondral defect against reference Maioregen® comparatively.
