Background: Ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignancy in women with significant mortality rate due to the resistance to chemotherapy drugs. Doxorubicin (DOX) is a chemotropic agent in ovarian cancer treatment. Overexpression of multidrug resistance (MDR) genes, such as ABCB1, in cancer cells after chemotherapy is one of main problems in clinical applications.

One piece biopsy for both rapid urease test and cultivation of Helicobacter pylori.

J Microbiol Methods

September 2019

Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Urmia, Iran; Cellular and molecular research center, Faculty of Medicine, Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Urmia, Iran. Electronic address:

Background & Aims: Increasing antibiotic resistance among Helicobacter pylori isolates and the unsuccessful attempts at eradication can impose many costs to both healthcare systems and patients. The present study intended to find a way from which H. pylori could be isolated from biopsies with less invasive procedures undertaken on infected patients.

Enterobacteriaceae are a part of the human intestinal flora easily spread by hand carriage, water and food. Treatment of infections due to Enterobacteriaceae is difficult mainly in countries with a low socioeconomic state. Carbapenems are considered as a last-resort antibiotic for the treatment of infections due to multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.

In the present study, magnetic and thermo/pH-sensitive (multiresponsive) nanocomposites based on N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAM) were synthesized and characterized. Nanocomposites were synthesized by free radical emulsion polymerization of NIPAAM as thermosensitive monomer and N,N-dimethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) as pH-sensitive monomer in the presence of methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linking agent. Doxorubicin, an anti-cancer drug, was loaded into these nanocomposites via equilibrium swelling method.

Diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer have been characterized with a variety of challenges. However, with the advancement in magnetic nanoparticle (MNP) technology, many challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer are on the decline. The MNPs have led to many break-through in cancer therapy.

Background: It is proved that testis is sensitive to electromagnetic field (EMF) and its damage results in infertility. Exposure to EMF induces reactive oxygen species production and affects on anti-oxidants defense mechanisms. Metallothionein (MT) is a name for a group of low molecular weight (6-7 kDa), sulfhydryl rich proteins.

Background: Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a 45-56 kDa glycoprotein that has an important role in proliferation and embryo implantation. Its effect on oocyte maturation and how to exert the function remained to be elucidated.

Methods: Immature mice superovulated with human menopausal gonadotropin and germinal vesicle (GV) oocytes were obtained from ovary 48 hours after.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess effects of cysteamine as an anti-oxidant on rate of in vitro maturation of oocyte and determination of its effects on spindle size and shape.

Methods: Pre-mature mice were primed with pregnant mare stimulating gonadotrophin (PMSG) and germinal vesicle (GV) stage oocytes were obtained 48 h after. The oocytes were cultured in tissue culture medium (TCM 199) with 50, 100, 200 and 500 microM cysteamine.
