Protein-losing enteropathy associated with collagenous colitis (CC) is a rare but described entity in the adult population. However, literature regarding this in the pediatric population is scarce. Here we describe a 2-year-old female who presented with fevers, accompanied by nonbloody, watery diarrhea, and decreased oral intake.

Unique sequelae of portal vein thrombosis in a pediatric patient with cystic echinococcosis: A case report.

This case report presents a rare complication of hepatic cystic echinococcosis in a 12-year-old Latino male, residing in a nonendemic region, who developed long-term sequelae of portal vein thrombosis accompanied by the emergence of a hyper-vascular sigmoid colon mass. Portal vein involvement in hepatic cystic echinococcosis is exceedingly uncommon, with limited documented cases. The presentation of the patient included intermittent hematochezia, abdominal pain, and fatigue.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship Programs.

Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) has undergone important growth in the field of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) in the last 14 years and is recognized as a critical diagnostic tool in the care of ill and injured children. The first PEM POCUS fellowship was established in 2010. Now, there are currently 30 ultrasound fellowships that offer training to PEM physicians.

Clinical Significance of Coronary Arterial Dominance: A Review of the Literature.

Coronary dominance describes the anatomic variation of coronary arterial supply, notably as it relates to perfusion of the inferior cardiac territories. Differences in the development and outcome in select disease states between coronary dominance patterns are increasingly recognized. In particular, observational studies have identified higher prevalence of poor outcomes in left coronary dominance in the setting of ischemic, conduction, and valvular disease.

Given that they are trained from Internet data, they may reflect societal biases, as has been shown for text-to-text large language model programs. Purpose Of Review: This review is designed to highlight recent research efforts to optimize treatment strategies in men with advanced prostate cancer.

Recent Findings: Recent research analyses have suggested an overall survival advantage to treating some men with newly identified metastatic prostate cancer with a "triplet" of androgen deprivation therapy, docetaxel, and an androgen receptor axis-targeted agent (ARAT), but further work remains to refine which men need this aggressive of a treatment approach. Randomized trials have led to the approval of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor/ARAT agent combinations for some men with metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer, but the applicability of this approach to the growing number of men receiving combinations of systemic therapy in the castration-sensitive setting is unclear.

Objectives: Digital health solutions have the potential to improve maternal mental health care. The objective of this study is to determine if utilization of a digital health platform, Maven, is associated with improved management of mental health among peripartum people with a history of mental health disorders and determine which components of utilization associate with maternal mental health outcomes.

Methods: Participants in this retrospective cohort analysis ( = 1561) accessed Maven as an employer-sponsored health benefit and enrolled during their pregnancy and delivered from January 2020 through September 2022.

We sought to determine if digoxin prescription at discharge in infants following hybrid stage 1 palliation was associated with improved transplant-free interstage survival.

Stigma and Social Avoidance in Adults with Essential Tremor.

Background: People with essential tremor (ET) can be subject to stigma, and some adopt avoidance behaviors. Characteristics associated with ET stigma and the relationship between perceived stigma and social dysfunction have not been studied.

Objectives: To discern predictors of perceived stigma and social dysfunction in ET, and to identify potentially treatable psychological factors associated with social dysfunction.

Treatment of sinus headache using a device that combines acoustic vibration with oscillating expiratory pressure.

Objective: To determine if simultaneous administration of acoustic vibration and oscillating expiratory pressure affects the severity of facial pain among patients with complaint of "sinus headache".

Methods: This is a prospective single-arm observational study performed at a tertiary care medical center. Subjects with complaint of sinus headache without evidence of chronic rhinosinusitis on exam or computed tomography participated in a clinical study applying simultaneous acoustic vibrations and positive expiratory pressure to the nasal cavity twice daily over 4 weeks.
