[The changing epidemiology of tick-borne encephalitis: epidemic surveillance and disease prevention challenges].

The increasing number of cases of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) reported in recent years in Europe and, more recently, in Poland is a consequence of factors related to climate and environmental change leading to increasing tick populations and human behavior favoring exposure. In Poland, there is considerable regional variation in the incidence of TBE, resulting, among other factors, from underreporting of all cases and limited access to laboratory diagnostics. The consequence is low public awareness of the disease and insufficient use of vaccination as optimal prevention.

Orbital Hematoma Treatment-A Retrospective Study.

Bleeding within the orbit in the form of a subperiosteal or retrobulbar hematoma is a relatively common complication of trauma and surgery. It affects up to 30% of patients fractures involving the orbital bones. Most cases do not require surgical intervention because they do not cause retinal ischemia or optic nerve neuropathy.

Guidelines for Preventing and Treating Vitamin D Deficiency: A 2023 Update in Poland.

All epidemiological studies suggest that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent among the Polish general population. Since vitamin D deficiency was shown to be among the risk factors for many diseases and for all-cause mortality, concern about this problem led us to update the previous Polish recommendations. After reviewing the epidemiological evidence, case-control studies and randomized control trials (RCTs), a Polish multidisciplinary group formulated questions on the recommendations for prophylaxis and treatment of vitamin D deficiency both for the general population and for the risk groups of patients.

Challenges in the Diagnosis of Tertiary Syphilis: Case Report with Literature Review.

Several hundred million people are infected with genital genotypes of the human papillomavirus (HPV) annually in the world. The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of the intensity of mesangial C3 deposits in kidney biopsy and the serum C3 level on the clinical course and outcomes of IgAN in children. The study included 148 children from the Polish Pediatric IgAN Registry, diagnosed based on kidney biopsy.
