The effects of T4 are mainly manifested by positive ino- and chronotropism. The syndrome accompanying hypothyroidism in rabbits (impaired myocardial contractility and reduced ejection capacity) is caused by a deficiency of thyroid hormones - especially T4. The study group consisted of a total of 41 animals: 15 males and 26 females, ranging in age from 2 months to 8 years, with echocardiogram showing reduced fractional shortening (<30%), with normal results of heamatological and biochemical tests.

Brain tumors are among the most dangerous, due to their location in the organ that governs all life processes. Moreover, the high differentiation of these poses a challenge in diagnostics. Therefore, this study focused on the chemical differentiation of glioblastoma G4 (GBM) and two types of meningiomas (atypical - MAtyp and angiomatous - MAng) were done using Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy, combined with statistical, multivariate, machine learning and rate of spectrum changes methods.

Transvenous extraction of the leads in children is associated with a higher risk of serious complications, that is why it is reluctantly performed. Unfortunately, this conservative approach has been associated with secondary complications (tricuspid valve dysfunction and bilateral venous obstruction), adverse events during lead removal procedure and recanalization and stenting of chest veins. We present a case of a 27-year-old female with a pacemaker and insertion of two new leads on the opposite side of the chest leaving the old ones in place.

The poultry industry relies extensively on antibiotics and coccidiostats as essential tools for disease management and productivity enhancement. However, increasing concerns about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the toxicological safety of these substances have prompted a deeper examination of their broader impacts on animal and human health. This study investigates the toxicological effects of antibiotics and coccidiostats on the gut-brain axis and microbiota in turkeys, with a particular focus on molecular mechanisms that may influence neurochemical and inflammatory responses.

Background: Cardiac implantable devices (CIED) such as pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, or cardiac resynchronization devices are implanted in selected patients with bradyarrhythmia and advanced heart failure. The invasive character of these procedures poses a risk of early complications such as pneumothorax, bleeding, infections, or dislocations.
Aims: There are no available data that analyzed the impact of the organization of procedures on the early complications risk after permanent pacing procedures.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with several mild metabolic disorders, including insulin resistance (IR), obesity, and dyslipidemia, as well as with some more severe ones, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and cardiovascular disease. Clinically, mild metabolic complications of PCOS such as IR or lipid metabolism disorders are the predictors of these more severe ones. So far, there is no reliable single marker that enables defining metabolic risk in patients with PCOS.

The health benefits of mulberry fruit are closely associated with its phenolic compounds. However, the effects of enzymatic treatments on the digestion patterns of these compounds in mulberry juice remain largely unknown. This study investigated the impact of pectinase (PE), pectin lyase (PL), and cellulase (CE) on the release of phenolic compounds in whole mulberry juice.

The discontinuation of futile therapy is increasingly discussed in Polish clinical practice. Given the need to ensure patient well-being, it is essential to consider whether all clinical options resulting from medical progress should be used for every patient and on what grounds decisions to limit therapy should be based. The aim of our study was to determine the opinions of Polish medical doctors on this topic.

The findings regarding trace element concentrations in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and healthy controls are inconsistent, and therefore, we determined to gather them in the form of a review to further indicate the need for more advanced knowledge development. In our study, we reviewed articles and studies that involved the topics of micronutrient and metal associations with the occurrence and development of type 2 diabetes. We mainly included works regarding human-based studies, but with limited research results, animal-based research was also taken into account.

Bladder cancer (BC) currently ranks as the 9th most common cancer worldwide. It is characterised by very high rates of recurrence and metastasis. Most cases of BC are of urothelial origin, and due to its ability to penetrate muscle tissue, BC is divided into non-muscle-invasive BC (NMIBC) and muscle-invasive BC (MIBC).
