Fungi present in Dental Unit Water (DUW) can pose a health hazard to patients and dental personnel. Yet, the issue of fungal contamination of DUW and their conduits, DUW Lines (DUWLs) has been poorly addressed despite a growing body of data on the subject. In this comprehensive review, we aim to address this gap by examining the diverse fungal contaminants found in DUW, the challenges associated with controlling their growth within waterline biofilms, and the various measures employed for fungal decontamination.

Introduction: Urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (uACR) is an independent predictor of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. However there is limited evidence on the burden of CKD according to uACR categories at the population level. This study estimates future clinical and financial burden of CKD according to uACR categories using the Inside CKD microsimulation.

Apoptosis-regulating proteins from the B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) family are of continued interest as they represent promising targets for anti-cancer therapies. Myeloid cell leukemia-1 (MCL-1), which usually refers to the long isoform (MCL-1L) is frequently overexpressed in various types of cancer. However, MCL1 pre-mRNA can also undergo alternative splicing through exon skipping to yield the short isoform, MCL-1S.

Patients' collaboration with healthcare providers, along with their individual dedication to follow medical recommendations, is a crucial component of effective therapy in chronic diseases. If a patient fails to fill their prescription, administers the medication improperly in terms of method and/or dosage, misses follow-up visits, or discontinues the treatment for any reason, these lapses can adversely affect disease management, impairing the effectiveness of symptom relief and prevention of progression and complications. A comparable situation pertains to allergic diseases, which require long-term and consistent treatment to achieve symptom alleviation and control.

Both chronic kidney disease (CKD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are modern epidemics worldwide and have become a severe public health problem. Chronic kidney disease progression in T2D patients is linked to the need for dialysis or kidney transplantation and represents the risk factor predisposing to serious cardiovascular complications. In recent years, important progress has occurred in nephroprotective pharmacotherapy in CKD patients with T2D.
