Background: The posture of performance-oriented sport climbers adapts in a way that likely promotes the development of low back pain. The thoracolumbar fascia, while also contributing to performance, seems to be involved in that process. Furthermore, there has been evidence of the stiffening of the fascial structures in disorders associated with negative affectivity.

Objective: Emergency surgery for acute bowel obstruction (ABO) is a common and occasionally technically demanding procedure, requiring both surgical skill and strategic planning. The risk entailed in teaching residents during ABO surgery has not been defined or investigated in detail to date. It is the aim of this study to reveal whether surgery for ABO, performed by resident surgeons under supervision, is safe and feasible.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of pre-biopsy rectal swab and urine screening combined with a risk-adapted antibiotic treatment strategy on reducing post-biopsy infections (PBIs) following multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI)/ transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) fusion-targeted transrectal prostate biopsy (TRPBx).
Methods: 1119 Patients undergoing mpMRI-TRUS fusion TRPBx between June 2017 and February 2024 were included. Patients were screened for rectal extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)/multi-resistant gram-negative (MRGN) and urinary pathogens.

Emotion regulation is a critical factor implicated in diverse psychopathologies. However, evidence for the transdiagnostic feature of emotion regulation remains inconclusive. This study explored whether emotion regulation warrants designation as a transdiagnostic construct by examining its distinct neural basis compared to constructs within the existing Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) framework and searching for convergent regional brain activity during emotion regulation across psychiatric disorders.

Background: Pegunigalsidase alfa is a newly approved drug for the treatment of Fabry disease, designed to increase the plasma half-life and reduce immunogenicity of infused α-galactosidase A (AGAL). We provide the first comprehensive pharmacokinetic and immunogenic data apart from industry-initiated studies.
Methods: Pharmacokinetics of pegunigalsidase alfa, amino acid, and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-specific antibodies and immune complexes were measured in treated patients (11 switched, two naïve).

Background: The presence and clinical significance of hepatic tissue alterations as assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), are unclear. This study aimed to investigate associations of hepatic T1 patterns with myocardial tissue damage and clinical outcomes in patients suffering from STEMI.
Methods: We analyzed 485 patients with STEMI treated with percutaneous coronary intervention who were enrolled in the prospective MARINA STEMI study (Magnetic Resonance Imaging In Acute ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction).

Polysomnography, the gold standard diagnostic tool in sleep medicine, is performed in an artificial environment. This might alter sleep and may not accurately reflect typical sleep patterns. While macro-structures are sensitive to environmental effects, micro-structures remain more stable.

Introduction: The effect of different anaesthetics on the incidence of postoperative delirium is still not entirely clear. Therefore, we will evaluate the effect of desflurane versus sevoflurane versus propofol for the maintenance of anaesthesia on the incidence of postoperative delirium in older adults undergoing moderate- to high-risk major non-cardiac surgery. We will further compare the incidences of delayed neurocognitive recovery, long-term postoperative neurocognitive disorder, postoperative nausea and vomiting between the groups.

Background: In high-grade ovarian cancer (HGOC), determination of homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) status is commonly used in routine practice to predict response to platinum-based therapy or poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). Here we tested the hypothesis that BRCA loss of function (LOF) due to epigenetic or genetic aberrations is a better predictor for the clinical outcome than HRD. One hundred thirty-one HGOC tissues were tested for BRCA DNA-methylation, BRCA mutations, HRD and BRCA1 mRNA expression, followed by a comprehensive survival analysis.

Objective: To elucidate how the clinical presentation of Pediatric Inflammatory Multisystem Syndrome temporally associated with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-related Coronavirus 2 (PIMS-TS) was influenced by the successive variants of concern (VOC) and patient age.
Study Design: A nationwide PIMS-TS registry was established in Germany in May 2020, shortly after the first cases were described in the US and United Kingdom. The registry captured information on patient characteristics, clinical course, laboratory findings, imaging, and outcome.

Introduction: The exact mechanisms of bone remodelling after scaphoid fractures are not fully understood. Blood supply may lead to delayed consolidation and non-unions as challenging long-term problems. The aim of this study was to follow-up the microstructure during the scaphoid bone remodelling process using High Resolution peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography (HR-pQCT) and compare the results with clinical and laboratory data.
