Aim Of The Study: Predictive factors for poor outcomes in hypothermic cardiac arrest (HCA) differ from those in normothermic out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of extracorporeal life support (ECLS) in HCA patients who may not be considered eligible based on the guidelines set by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO).
Methods: A retrospective multicentre study included 127 HCA patients, divided into two groups: those meeting the ELSO eligibility criteria for ECLS, and those with at least one of the following ELSO exclusion criteria: age over 70 years, unwitnessed cardiac arrest, or asystole.

This study presents fabrication and characterization of novel chamomile essential oil (CMO)/gallic acid-stabilized silver nanoparticles (gallic acid-nanosilver, GNS), embedded into polylactic acid (PLA)-based hybrid bilayer nanofibers (NFs). Where CMO was impregnated into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-polyethylene glycol (PEG) solution and electrospun simultaneously with PLA to obtain PLA/PVA-PEG-CMO NFs (PLA/CMO A2). Meanwhile, GNS were added to PVA-PEG-CMO and electrospun to obtain PLA/PVA-PEG-CMO-GNS NFs (PLA/CMO-GNS A3).

Background: The Mendelian Disorders of Cornification (MeDOC) comprise a large number of disorders that present with either localised (palmoplantar keratoderma, PPK) or generalised (ichthyoses) signs. The MeDOC are highly heterogenic in terms of genetics and phenotype. Consequently, diagnostic process is challenging and before implementation of the next generation sequencing, was mostly symptomatic, not causal, which limited research on those diseases.

The extracellular matrix (ECM) serves as a physical scaffold for tissues that is composed of structural proteins such as laminins, collagens, proteoglycans and fibronectin, forming a three dimensional network, and a wide variety of other matrix proteins with ECM-remodeling and signaling functions. The activity of ECM-associated signaling proteins is tightly regulated. Thus, the ECM serves as a reservoir for water and growth regulatory signals.

An effective vaccine against hepatitis C virus (HCV) should elicit both humoral and cellular immune responses. Previously, we characterized a bivalent vaccine candidate against hepatitis B (HBV) and HCV using chimeric HBV-HCV virus-like particles (VLP), in which the highly conserved epitope of HCV E2 glycoprotein (residues 412-425) was inserted into the hydrophilic loop of HBV small surface antigen (sHBsAg). While sHBsAg_412-425 elicited cross-neutralizing antibodies, it did not trigger a T-cell response against HCV.

Developing bio-blends and biocomposites has become a widespread strategy to combat plastic pollution in line with sustainability principles and decarbonization necessities. Although chemically modified ternary and quaternary biocomposites are developing rapidly because of their broader processing and performance windows than single matrix and binary counterparts, a few have been reported about their biodegradation. Herein, diisocyanates-based chemically modified ternary biocomposites based on poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate), thermoplastic starch (TPS), poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), and cellulose (Mater-Bi/PCL/cellulose) are prepared and undergone soil burial biodegradation providing a broader perspective on biodegradation of complicated systems.

Background/purpose: High doses to healthy cardiac substructures (CS) in stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) raise concerns regarding potential treatment-induced cardio-toxicity. However, CS contours are not routinely created, hindering the understanding of the CS dose-effect relationships. To address this issue, the alignment of CS contouring was initiated within the STOPSTORM consortium.

Research indicates a role for EBI2 receptor in remyelination, demonstrating that its deficiency or antagonism inhibits this process. However, activation of EBI2 with its endogenous ligand, oxysterol 7α,25-dihydroxycholesterol (7α,25OHC), does not enhance remyelination beyond the levels observed in spontaneously remyelinating tissue. We hypothesized that the short half-life of the natural ligand might explain this lack of beneficial effects and tested a synthetic analogue, CF-7α,25OHC, in the cuprizone model.

Background: A personalised approach to the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in children and adolescents, as well as the development of supportive therapies, has significantly improved survival. Despite this, some patients still die before starting treatment or in an early phase of therapy before achieving remission. The study analysed the frequency, clinical features and risk factors for early deaths (ED) and treatment related deaths (TRD) of children and adolescents with AML.

Introduction: The goal of hypospadias repair is to optimize urinary and sexual function, improve cosmesis and minimise the psychosocial effects associated with a penile anomaly. However, a lack of clarity exists regarding the role of surgery in milder hypospadias where the anomaly is inconspicuous and there is no anticipated impact on function. The aim of this study was to review the long term functional, cosmetic and psychosocial outcomes in men with uncorrected hypospadias.

All guidelines recommend the use of Automated Insulin Delivery therapy for people with type 1 diabetes (PWT1D) and they highlight that a specifically trained and expert team should provide training on HCL systems for PWT1D, but none of the publications detail the curriculum profile that diabetes educators should have. This paper aims to establish a consensus on the optimal educational pathway for diabetes educators on the MiniMed™ 780G system.

Introduction: Premature and low-birthweight infants are at especially high risk of perinatal complications, including impaired thermoregulation, infections and respiratory distress. Such adverse effects and the need for invasive procedures are associated with high mortality among preterms. This study focused on the influence of the innate immune system and tested the levels of collectins, collectin-10 (CL-10), collectin-11 (CL-11) and mannose-binding lectin (MBL) in preterm neonates.
