The TTN gene encodes a large muscle protein called titin, which provides structure, stability, and flexibility to skeletal and cardiac sarcomeres. The aim of this study was to determine whether the TTN C > T polymorphism (rs10497520) influenced training-induced changes in selected variables of aerobic and anaerobic capacity. We studied genotypes distribution in a group of 156 Caucasian females examined for aerobic capacity evaluated by maximal oxygen uptake (VO), and anaerobic capacity measured with the Wingate anaerobic test, before and after a 12-week training program.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of contrast heat and cold pressure therapy (CHCP) on muscle tone, elasticity, stiffness, perfusion unit, and muscle fatigue indices after plyometric training consisting of five sets of jumping on a 50-cm high box until exhaustion. A prospective, randomized, controlled single-blind study design was used. Twenty professional MMA fighters were included in the study.

The natural healing process of cartilage injuries often fails to fully restore the tissue's biological and mechanical functions. Cartilage grafts are costly and require surgical intervention, often associated with complications such as intraoperative infection and rejection by the recipient due to ischemia. Novel tissue engineering technologies aim to ideally fill the cartilage defect to prevent disease progression or regenerate damaged tissue.

This study aims to explore the interplay between locomotor demands and goal differentials to better understand their combined influence on overall success. Spanning three competitive seasons within the male Turkish Super League, this study analyzed all participating teams across 124 matches. Locomotor demands, including total distance (m) covered (TD), distances covered (m) at different speed thresholds (0.

Background: Glofitamab monotherapy induces durable remission in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma after two or more previous therapies, but has not previously been assessed as a second-line therapy. We investigated the efficacy and safety of glofitamab plus gemcitabine-oxaliplatin (Glofit-GemOx) versus rituximab (R)-GemOx in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Methods: The phase 3, randomised, open-label STARGLO trial was done at 62 centres in 13 countries in Asia and Australia, Europe, and North America.

Purpose: We aim to determine the current treatment patterns and recommendations among physicians for cutaneous lymphomas and to identify the types of skin lymphomas for which existing radiation regimens need improvement.
Methods And Materials: A questionnaire from the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer was distributed to all members of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Tumour Group and Radiation Oncology Scientific Council. This online survey included 13 questions regarding treatment practices for patients with cutaneous lymphoma.

Background: Haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is a life-threatening disease with a historically poor prognosis in children receiving maintenance kidney replacement therapy (KRT). This study aimed to analyse the incidence and outcome of chronic kidney disease stage 5 (CKD5) due to Escherichia coli-HUS (STEC-HUS) and complement-mediated HUS (CM-HUS) in children, compared with controls with non-HUS CKD5 over the last 24 years.
Methods: The study included 1488 children undergoing KRT in Poland between 2000 and 2023.

Pregnant women are more susceptible to high blood pressure (BP) than the general adult population; therefore, all means of preventing this condition should be considered. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is effective in this regard in the general population, but there is a lack of evidence of its effectiveness during pregnancy. This study aimed to compare an 8-week HIIT program to self-performed moderate-to-vigorous physical activity among pregnant women by evaluating changes in BP after a maximal progressive cardiorespiratory exercise test (CPET) performed at pre-intervention and post-intervention time points.

Two compounds, benzyl-2-(amino(pyrazin-2-yl)methylene)-1-methylhydrazine-1-carbodithioate (L) and its copper(ii) complex Cu(L) were synthesized and studied in terms of their physicochemical properties, including single crystal, spectroscopic and magnetic properties; simulations, including DFT calculations and pharmacokinetic profile analysis; and biological activity. The Cu(L) compound was found to exhibit good anticancer activity against A375, PANC-1, MKN-74, T-47D, HeLa, and NCI-H1563 cells, with the IC value against the HeLa cell line reaching 17.50 μM, significantly surpassing the activity of the organic ligand.

Background: Current guidelines do not recommend β-blockers in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) unless indicated by comorbidities. However, the evidence regarding the role of β-blockers in PAH is contradictory.
Research Question: What are the effects of β-blockers on clinical outcomes in patients newly diagnosed with PAH, and how do these outcomes differ based on the presence of cardiovascular comorbidities that are standard indications for β-blocker use?
Study Design And Methods: We analyzed data from 806 patients newly diagnosed with PAH enrolled prospectively in the Database of Pulmonary Hypertension in the Polish Population (BNP-PL).

Serum amyloid A (SAA) is a small protein consisting of 104 residues and, under physiological conditions, exists mainly in hexameric form. It belongs to the positive acute-phase proteins, which means that its plasma concentration increases rapidly in response to injury, inflammation, and infection. The accumulation of SAA molecules promotes the formation of amyloid aggregates, which deposit extracellularly in many organs, causing their dysfunction.

Increased inflammation and heightened physiological stress reactivity have been associated with pathophysiology of depressive symptoms. The underlying biological mechanisms by which inflammation and stress may influence neurogenesis are changes in the kynurenine (KYN) pathway, which is activated under stress. Supplementation with -3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (-3 PUFAs) has anti-inflammatory properties and can increase stress resilience.

Background: Malnutrition among older adults is associated with numerous adverse effects, including increased morbidity, mortality, prolonged hospital stays, and a heightened risk of falls. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of malnutrition in different groups of older adults using the F-MNA, anthropometry, and s-albumin and the association between nutritional status and fall risk.
Methods: A total of 228 participants aged 60 years and older were divided into three groups: (1) patients in an internal medicine ward, (2) individuals living in family homes, and (3) residents of care homes.

Background: Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, at both the systemic and the central level, are critical early events in atherosclerosis and Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Purpose: To investigate the oxidative stress-, inflammation-, and Tau-phosphorylation-lowering effects of pomegranate polyphenols (PPs) (punicalagin, ellagic acid, peel, and aril extracts).
Methods: We used flow cytometry to quantify the protein expression of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β) and anti-inflammatory mediators (IL-10) in THP-1 macrophages, as well as M1/M2 cell-specific marker (CD86 and CD163) expression in human microglia HMC3 cells.

This study explores the proteomic composition of follicular fluid (FF) from women undergoing oocyte retrieval for in vitro fertilisation (IVF), with a focus on the effects of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). FF samples were collected from 74 patients, including 34 with PCOS and 40 oocyte donors. Proteomic profiling using machine learning identified significant differences in protein abundance between the PCOS and control groups.
