Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) may progress to advanced liver fibrosis (ALF). We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of a novel Liver Fibrosis Risk Index (LFRI) in MAFLD subjects using transient elastography (TE) as the reference method for liver fibrosis measurement and then the diagnostic performance of a new two-step non-invasive algorithm for the detection of ALF risk in MAFLD, using Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) followed by LFRI and comparing it to the reference algorithm based on FIB-4 and TE. We conducted a prospective study on 104 MAFLD European adult subjects.

Introduction: Seromas refer to collections of fluid secreted into the so-called dead spaces when extensive dissection takes place. Various methods of preventing seroma have been reported in the literature but their outcomes are far from spectacular.
Aim: To verify the expected benefit on usage of IHSI (intra-operative hypertonic saline irrigation) in aspect of decreasing subcutaneous fluid secretion and decreased hospital stay in patients undergoing various abdominal wall reconstruction procedures.

Introduction: A global vaccination program was implemented in late 2020 to end the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. However, the immune response elicited by the vaccines proved to be insufficient due to the rapid emergence of new viral mutations. Therefore, the factors influencing cellular and humoral immune responses after the administration of different vaccines against SARS-CoV2 need to be identified.

Antibody levels that confer full protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection after the administration of different vaccine brands as well as the factors influencing the humoral immune response have been analyzed extensively ever since the vaccination program was launched in late 2020. The aim of this study was to determine anti-SARS-CoV-2S antibody titers in 100 healthcare workers 10 months after the administration of two BNT162b2 vaccine doses, and to investigate the influence of demographic characteristics, the presence of comorbidities and history of COVID-19 infection. The results were compared with antibody levels that were determined eight months after the administration of two BNT162b2 vaccine doses in our previous study.

Filial beliefs are defined as a cognitive script or even a contextualized personality construct for social exchanges, which shapes the attitudes of individuals. In the given study, we investigate the factorial structure of the Polish version of the Dual Filial Piety Scale (DFPS-PL) and verify whether measurement of filial piety is invariant among students and employees, and among men and women. Two studies were conducted on different age samples: 489 students aged 18-24 and 849 employees aged 25-64.

Since varicocele is so common in infertile men, this study intends to analyse the relationships between varicocele and conventional semen characteristics, sperm nuclear DNA dispersion and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) in semen. Varicocele-positive and varicocele-negative infertile men (study groups) showed significantly lower standard sperm parameters and higher sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) and ORP in semen than healthy volunteers and subjects with proven fertility (control groups). A lower proportion of low SDF levels (0-15% SDF) and higher incidence of high SDF levels (>30% SDF), as well as a higher prevalence of high ORP values (>1.

It has become a standard measure in recent years to utilise evidence-based practice, which is associated with a greater need to implement and use advanced, reliable methods of summarising the achievements of various scientific disciplines, including such highly specialised approaches as personalised medicine. The aim of this paper was to discuss the current state of knowledge related to improvements in "nursing" involving management of delirium in intensive care units during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. This narrative review summarises the current knowledge concerning the challenges associated with assessment of delirium in patients with COVID-19 by ICU nurses, and the role and tasks in the personalised approach to patients with COVID-19.

After 3 years, she returned to the ward due to a small, palpable nodule in the area of the urethra that turned out to be a cancer of the clear cell carcinoma. Despite the resection of the -lesion with negative margins in the pathology examination, a local regrowth in the same area was diagnosed in the MRI 8 months after the first episode of metastasis and was successfully removed.
