A case of silicosis with infection relapsed with lymphadenitis 1 year after the completion of initial treatment.

A 71-year-old man with silicosis was treated for infection. Antimycobacterial treatment for was terminated 1 year after a negative test result for the bacteria on sputum examination. One year following the treatment, the patient developed pneumonitis.

Consensus statement on chronic pain treatment in cancer survivors.

In September 2023, the Japan Society of Pain Clinicians (JSPC) issued this consensus statement on chronic pain treatment in cancer survivors. With recent advances in the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer, its prognosis has improved, so prolonged pain in cancer survivors is considered to represent chronic pain and should be addressed. In this statement, we emphasize that not all cancer survivor pain is cancer pain.

Predictors of recurrence and survival after salivary gland cancer surgery: A multicenter, retrospective study in northern Japan.

Objectives: Salivary gland cancer is a rare disease composed of more than 20 histological types with different grades of malignancy. The aim of this multicenter, retrospective study was to identify the most important predictors affecting recurrence and survival after surgery.

Material And Methods: A total of 543 patients with salivary gland cancers that underwent curative surgery between 2012 and 2022 in 13 institutions in northern Japan were evaluated in this study.

Establishment and characterization of the novel myxofibrosarcoma cell line, SMU-MFS.

Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) is one of the most common soft-tissue sarcomas in elderly patients. Owing to the limited efficacy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, complete resection is the only available curative treatment. Therefore, developing novel therapies for MFS is important to improve clinical outcomes.

Objective: This study aimed to develop dual-functional CMC-LYZ-ACP nanogels. Three different antibacterial substances, tea polyphenols (TPs), silver nitrate (AgNO), and chlorhexidine (CHX) are then combined to form three dual-functional CMC-LYZ-ACP nanogels for remineralization and antibacterial purposes.

Methods: An in vitro model of Streptococcus mutans biofilm was established to analyze the inhibitory effect of the antibacterial-remineralizing dual-functional nanogels on the biofilm.

Association between periodontal disease and atherosclerosis: a bibliometric analysis.

Background: In recent years, the relationship between periodontal disease (PD) and atherosclerosis (AS) has garnered significant scholarly attention. Chronic inflammation induced by PD may promote the onset and progression of AS through multiple mechanisms. Given the increasing global incidence of both PD and AS, which adversely affects patients' quality of life and longevity, further investigation into the interplay between PD and AS is of substantial clinical importance.

Hypertension increases the risk of cerebrovascular disease and death. In addition to aerobic exercise, which is currently recommended for its antihypertensive effects, recent studies have suggested that dynamic and isometric resistance exercises also have antihypertensive effects. However, the magnitude of the antihypertensive effect of such resistance exercises is not well known.

Background: A serum biomarker for diagnosing ulcerative colitis (UC) remains to be established. Although we recently reported an anti-integrin αvβ6 antibody (V6 Ab) for diagnosing UC with high sensitivity and specificity, no large-scale validation study exists. This study aimed to validate the diagnostic value of V6 Ab for UC using a nationwide multicenter cohort study.

According to three stages of the journal,statistics of the quantity and themes of the issued papers are compiled: the number of issued papers increased while the theme shifted from Chinese stomatology history before 1912 to Chinese contemporary stomatology history. Research methods shifted from the comparatively scanty summary or induction on literature and cultural relics materials to multidisciplinary approaches.

Histological Improvement of Hepatic Fibrosis of Decompensated Liver Cirrhosis after Prednisolone and Azathioprine Treatment in a Patient with Autoimmune Hepatitis.

The treatment of the underlying cause of liver disease may potentially reverse hepatic fibrosis. However, it remains uncertain whether improvement in fibrosis can be observed in decompensated liver cirrhosis (LC). Here, we present a case of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH)-related LC in which histological improvement of fibrosis was achieved despite the presence of decompensated LC.

Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease diagnosed after lower extremity venous thrombosis mimicking immunoglobulin G4-related disease - A case report.

It is difficult to distinguish idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) from immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD). A 47-year-old man was diagnosed with venous thrombosis in the right lower extremity. Multiple lymphadenopathies and splenomegaly were incidentally detected.
