The effectiveness of relugolix compared with leuprorelin for preoperative therapy before laparoscopic myomectomy in premenopausal women, diagnosed with uterine fibroids: protocol for a randomized controlled study (MyLacR study).

Background: The oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist relugolix, which temporarily stops menstruation, is used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure, and low back pain in women with uterine fibroids. Treatment can also help women recover from low hemoglobin levels and possibly shrink the fibroids. However, evidence of preoperative use of relugolix before laparoscopic myomectomy is limited.

Factors that affect the development of acute hemorrhagic rectal ulcer syndrome and rebleeding.

Objectives: Acute hemorrhagic rectal ulcer syndrome (AHRUS) causes massive bleeding and often recurrent rebleeding from rectal ulcers that form immediately above the dentate line. This study aimed to determine the clinical background and risk factors contributing to rebleeding in patients with AHRUS and the most appropriate method of hemostasis treatment.

Methods: This retrospective study included 93 patients diagnosed with AHRUS at Showa University Fujigaoka Hospital, Japan, between April 2009 and November 2018.

A case of myeloperoxidase-antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody and anticardiolipin antibody-positive pyogenic arthritis, pyoderma gangrenosum, acne and hidradenitis suppurativa (PAPASH) syndrome with colitis.

A previous case report of colitis and serine proteinase 3-antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody positivity in pyogenic arthritis, pyoderma gangrenosum (PG), acne and hidradenitis suppurativa (PAPASH) syndrome with colitis has been published. Herein, we report a similar case of myeloperoxidase-antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (MPO-ANCA) positivity. A 26-year-old man presented with recurrent aseptic pyogenic arthritis, acne, hidradenitis suppurativa and PG.

Learning colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection: a prospective learning curve study using a novel ex vivo simulator.

Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is increasingly being used in Asia as a minimally invasive therapy to eradicate large laterally spreading superficial tumors in the colon. To date, the learning curve and effectiveness of ex vivo simulators in colonic ESD training remain unclear. The aim of the study is to determine the learning curve of colonic ESD in an ex vivo simulator.

Evaluation of hands-on seminar for reduced port surgery using fresh porcine cadaver model.

Background: The use of various biological and non-biological simulators is playing an important role in training modern surgeons with laparoscopic skills. However, there have been few reports of the use of a fresh porcine cadaver model for training in laparoscopic surgical skills. The purpose of this study was to report on a surgical training seminar on reduced port surgery using a fresh cadaver porcine model and to assess its feasibility and efficacy.
