Background: Oroantral fistula (OAF) is a pathological channel formed between the oral cavity and the maxillary sinus. A large size of OAF (≥5 mm) increases the risk of surgical failure, and an optimal surgical approach should be cautiously selected.
Objective: This study aims to characterize the application of nasal endoscopy and buccal fat pad (BFP) flaps to repair large OAFs in patients with odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (OMS).

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a key organelle in eukaryotic cells, responsible for a wide range of vital functions, including the modification, folding, and trafficking of proteins, as well as the biosynthesis of lipids and the maintenance of intracellular calcium homeostasis. A variety of factors can disrupt the function of the ER, leading to the aggregation of unfolded and misfolded proteins within its confines and the induction of ER stress. A conserved cascade of signaling events known as the unfolded protein response (UPR) has evolved to relieve the burden within the ER and restore ER homeostasis.

At present, oral lipid-lowering or anti-inflammatory drugs are clinically used to inhibit the development of atherosclerosis. However, traditional oral drug treatments have problems such as low utilization, slow response, and serious side effects.

Intrinsically conductive ruthenium oxide is an excellent material for energy storage and conversion. Herein, we present hydrous RuO (H-RuO) as a potent reducing agent to achieve spontaneous growth of multiple noble metals at room temperature. Self-assembled gold and platinum, comprising small-sized nanoparticles, are generated on the surface of H-RuO without the need for additional templates.

Aims: To investigate the predictive value of baseline C-reactive protein (CRP) levels on the efficacy of chemotherapy plus immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in patients with advanced lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).
Materials And Methods: In this retrospective multicenter study spanning from January 2016 to December 2020, advanced LSCC patients initially treated with chemotherapy or a combination of chemotherapy and ICI were categorized into normal and elevated CRP subgroups. The relationship between CRP levels and treatment outcomes was analyzed using multivariate Cox proportional hazards models and multivariate logistic regression, focusing primarily on the progression-free survival (PFS) endpoint, and secondarily on overall survival (OS) and objective response rate (ORR) endpoints.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect and molecular mechanism of Xuebijing Injection in the treatment of sepsis-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS) based on network pharmacology and in vitro experiment. The active components of Xuebijing Injection were screened and the targets were predicted by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform(TCMSP). The targets of sepsis-associated ARDS were searched against GeneCards, DisGeNet, OMIM, and TTD.

Purpose: To investigate the possible role of circRASA2 in periodontitis and its potential regulatory mechanism.
Methods: Periodontitis cell model was established by lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced periodontal ligament cells(PDLCs). Cell proliferation activity was detected by CCK-8 assay, cell migration ability was detected by Transwell chamber assay, and the expression of osteogenic differentiation-related proteins in cells was detected by Western blot.

Hypoxic and acidic environments are the two main components of the microenvironment contributing to the poor efficacy of chemotherapy drugs in the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). In this study, we synthesized a series of Zn Mg FeO nanomaterials with enzyme-like properties, including catalase (CAT)-like, peroxidase (POD)-like, and glutathione (GSH)-like activity in an acidic environment. Among them, ZnMgFeO performed the best and effectively increased the efficacy of doxorubicin (DOX) chemotherapy for the treatment of OSCC with reduced cardiotoxicity.

Hypoxia is a persistent physiological feature of many different solid tumors and a key driver of malignancy, and in recent years, it has been recognized as an important target for cancer therapy. Hypoxia occurs in the majority of solid tumors due to a poor vascular oxygen supply that is not sufficient to meet the needs of rapidly proliferating cancer cells. A hypoxic tumor microenvironment (TME) can reduce the effectiveness of other tumor therapies, such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.

Organoids hold inestimable therapeutic potential in regenerative medicine and are increasingly serving as an in vitro research platform. Still, their expanding applications are critically restricted by the canonical culture matrix and system. Synthesis of a suitable bioink of bioactivity, biosecurity, tunable stiffness, and printability to replace conventional matrices and fabricate customized culture systems remains challenging.

Distinguishing between N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-associated long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) is crucial in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. In this research, the prognosis and immunotherapeutic response of lncRNAs and m6A in NSCLC were examined. lncRNAs related to m6A were identified using co-expression analyses, and their prognostic impact on patients with NSCLC was assessed using univariate Cox regression analysis.

A network pharmacology-based strategy combined with molecular docking and in vitro validation was employed to investigate potential targets and molecular mechanisms of modified Liangge San(MLGS) against acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS). Active ingredients and corresponding targets of MLGS were screened out on the Traditional Chinese Medicines Systems Pharmacology(TCMSP) database, and the disease targets of ARDS were obtained by integrating GeneCards and DisGeNET database. The two were intersected to obtain the potential targets of MLGS against ARDS.

Inflammation is an essential mechanism of immune response that involves a large number of different immune cells. Atherosclerosis is essentially an inflammatory disease caused by inappropriate activities of immune cells. During this process, various cytokines activate immune cells, regulate and transmit immune cell signals, and stimulate a local inflammatory environment.

There are limited biomarkers to predict the metastatic probability of renal cancer, especially in the early-stage subgroup. Here, our study applied robust machine-learning algorithms to identify metastatic and recurrence-related signatures across multiple renal cancer cohorts, which reached high accuracy in both training and testing cohorts.

Background Dilated cardiomyopathy remains a leading cause of heart failure worldwide. Immune inflammation response is recognized as a significant player in the progression of heart failure; however, immunomodulatory strategies remain a long-term challenge. Colchicine, a potent anti-inflammatory drug, has many benefits in ischemic cardiovascular events, but its role in nonischemic heart failure remains unclear.

Caries is the most common chronic infectious disease in the human oral cavity and the existing anti-caries agents may lead to drug resistance and microecological imbalance. A novel urea derivative, 1,3-bis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]urea, has a potentially prominent antibacterial effect on cariogenic bacterial strain UA159. In this study, we encapsulated the water-insoluble urea derivative in poly(lactic--glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles, performed physicochemical characterizations and explored its potential as a caries-preventive agent.

Background: Hidden blood loss (HBL) often occurs after joint replacement; however, the mechanism of HBL is not clear. We conducted a prospective study to analyze the correlation between high-level free fatty acids (FFA) and erythrocyte injury, and explore the pathologic mechanism of hidden blood loss (HBL) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: Perioperative blood indexes were tested in 120 patients who underwent unilateral total knee replacement for end-stage knee osteoarthritis.
