The effects of regular aerobic exercise on blood concentrations on high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and prostacyclin were studied in 18 healthy sedentary boys who exercised on a bicycle ergometer for 1 h, four times per week, for 2 months at 75% of their physical working capacity. The results were compared with those of 10 control boys who did not participate in any specific program. Eighty-five women, 18 to 80 years of age, with palpable breast lumps were studied 1-4 days before surgery in order to evaluate 99mTc Tetrofosmin imaging for the detection of malignant breast tumours. Intravenous injection of 99mTc Tetrofosmin was followed by 3 min planar images at 5-60 min postinjection. The expression of p53 protein was evaluated immunochemically in cancer tissue, preneoplastic lesions and normal bronchial mucosa obtained during diagnostic bronchoscopy from 53 patients with lung cancer and 12 patients with benign lung diseases. A case of a 9-year-old boy with AIDS and severe hairy leukoplakia on the tongue is reported. Clinically it appears as a bilateral whitish-grey, nonremovable lesion on the lateral margins of the tongue with characteristic vertical corrugations. During the 3-year period, 1983-86, 194 procedures for acute arterial occlusion were performed in our Clinic. In 43 cases following revascularization procedures, decompression fasciotomy of the leg for a developed or impending compartment syndrome was performed. Of these, three fasciotomies were done as a prophylactic procedure, before the development of the syndrome.
