Objective: Ganoderma extracts have the potential to be used as anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulator, and antimicrobial agents, as evaluated in numerous studies. This study was aimed to determine the lethal and inhibitory effects of aqueous, hydroalcoholic, and alcoholic extracts of Ganoderma lucidum on Toxoplasma gondii RH strain tachyzoites, in vitro.
Results: All three types of extracts showed toxoplasmacidal effects.

Background: Gastric cancer has been recognized as the second most probable cause of death in humans from cancer diseases around the world. Postbiotics, supernatant, and metabolites from probiotic microorganisms have recently been used widely to prevent and treat cancer diseases in humans, without any undesirable side effects. This study explores the antiproliferative and antitumor activities of the probiotic var.

Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis are often colonized by Candida species with high possibility of fungal infections. The purposes of this study were to determine the prevalence of Candida species, evaluate antifungal susceptibility profile, biofilm formation, proteinase and phospholipase activities, and the frequency of virulence genes in the Candida species isolated from the oral mucosa of hemodialysis diabetic (DM) and non-diabetic (non-DM) patients.
Methods: This study identified several species of Candida isolated from 69 DM and 58 non-DM patients on hemodialysis using phenotypic methods and PCR-RFLP technique.

Background: Mandibular first molars appear to be the most commonly tooth subjected to a root canal treatment, therefore a better understanding of the anatomy critical zones for resistance of this teeth may decrease the treatment's failure rate. So, this study was conducted to evaluate the dentin thickness of the danger zone in mesial roots of mandibular first molars using cone beam computed tomography in an Iranian population.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 210 Cone Beam Computed Tomography acquisition of the mandibular first molars were collected from a radiology center in Qazvin.

Aim: Mutations in KRAS, NRAS, BRAF, and PIK3CA genes are critical factors in clinical evaluation of colorectal cancer (CRC) development and progression. In Iran, however, the data regarding genetic profile of CRC patients is limited except for KRAS exon2 and BRAF V600F mutations. This study aimed to investigate the mutational spectrum and prognostic effects of these genes and explore the relationship between these mutations and clinicopathological features of CRC.

With the emergence of multi-drug resistant strains among Klebsiella isolates, the use of old drugs such as fosfomycin has been considered. In this context, we investigated the effect of fosfomycin on biofilm-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae and Klebsiella oxytoca strains isolated from ICU patients. A total of 90 isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae and 30 isolates of Klebsiella oxytoca were collected from the ICU ward.

Gender determination is the first step in forensic identification, followed by age and height determination, which are both affected by gender. This study assessed the accuracy of gender estimation using mandibular morphometric indices on panoramic radiographs of an Iranian population. This retrospective study evaluated 290 panoramic radiographs (145 males and 145 females).

serogroup O157 is the main causative agent of several intestinal and extra-intestinal foodborne diseases in humans through consumption of low-dose contaminated foods such as milk, beef, and vegetables. To date, studies regarding the quantitative prevalence of O157 in foods are so limited. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the quantitative prevalence rate of serogroup O157 in raw milk ( = 144), vegetable salad ( = 174), and minced beef samples ( = 108) using the real-time qPCR SYBR green melting curve method targeting the gene.

Since the urease enzyme creates gastric cancer, peptic ulcer, hepatic coma, and urinary stones in millions of people worldwide, it is essential to find strong inhibitors to help patients. Natural products are well known for their beneficial effects on health and efforts are being made to isolate the ingredients, the so-called flavonoids. Flavonoids are now considered as an indispensable component in a variety of nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications.
