School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Jiangsu Province Hi-Tech Key Laboratory for Biomedical Research, Southeast University, Nanjing, Jiangsu 211189, P. R. China.

In this study, we present a novel chemical biology strategy that leverages the reductive metabolic pathways of cancer cells to develop a new approach for synthesizing polymers in nonstrictly anaerobic conditions. This method utilizes the reductive metabolism of cancer cells to reduce Cu(II) to Cu(I), enabling Cu(I)-catalyzed controlled radical polymerization with poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (MAPEGOMe) monomer, producing polymers with low dispersity (1.28-1.

State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

Nephroblastoma, an overexpressed gene (NOV) protein, plays an important role in proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis, adhesion, invasion and tumorigenesis, but the function of amino-truncated NOV is different. This study is to investigate the role of amino-truncated NOV in the progression of bladder cancer. Using immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis, we detected the amino-truncated NOV in bladder cancer, and statistical analysis was performed to estimate the association between the expression of amino-truncated NOV and the patient's prognosis by SPSS 19.

Q fever is a worldwide distribution disease caused by (), an obligate intracellular, Gram-negative acidophilic bacterium belonging to γ-proteobacterium. Most patients present with acute Q-fever accompanied by atypical flu-like symptoms, with only 1%-5% of cases may develop into persistent and focally infected foci, mainly manifest as endocarditis, osteomyelitis and prosthetic arthritis. In this case, the patient experienced an unexplained and uninterrupted fever up to 39.

Objective: Cytokines and cell subsets are important components of the tumor microenvironment. Previous research has revealed that there are differences in cytokines and cell subsets in the peripheral blood of lung cancer (LCA) patients before and after eradication. The purpose of this study is to explore the monitoring value of cytokines and cellular subpopulations as biomarkers in post-immunotherapy monitoring of patients with LCA after surgery.

Cisplatin (DDP)-based combined chemotherapy or concurrent chemoradiotherapy is the mainstay treatment for advanced-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), but needs improvement due to its severe side effects. Capsaicin (CAP) can enhance the anti-tumor activity of cytotoxic drugs. The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-metastasis activity of CAP in combination with DDP in NPC.

September 2023

Laboratory Medicine Center, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Nanfang Hospital, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, 510515, People's Republic of China.

Small extracellular-vesicule-associated microRNA (sEV-miRNA) is an important biomarker for cancer diagnosis. However, rapid and sensitive detection of low-abundance sEV-miRNA in clinical samples is challenging. Herein, a simple electrochemical biosensor that uses a DNA nanowire to localize catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA), also called domino-type localized catalytic hairpin assembly (DT-LCHA), has been proposed for sEV-miRNA1246 detection.

Objectives: Currently, most medical laboratories do not have a dedicated software for managing report recalls, and relying on traditional manual methods or laboratory information system (LIS) to record recall data is no longer sufficient to meet the quality management requirements in the large regional laboratory center. The purpose of this article was to describe the research process and preliminary evaluation results of integrating the Medical Laboratory Electronic Record System (electronic record system) laboratory report recall function into the iLab intelligent management system for quality indicators (iLab system), and to introduce the workflow and methods of laboratory report recall management in our laboratory.

Methods: This study employed cluster analysis to extract commonly used recall reasons from laboratory report recall records in the electronic record system.

Background: The primary strategy for reducing the incidence of COVID-19 is SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. Few studies have explored T cell subset differentiation and gene expressions induced by SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Our study aimed to analyze T cell dynamics and transcriptome gene expression after inoculation with an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine by using single-cell sequencing.

Background: Copy number variation (CNV) is a type of structural variation, which is a gain or loss event with abnormal changes in copy number. Methods to predict the pathogenicity of CNVs are required to realize the relationship between these variants and clinical phenotypes. ClassifyCNV, X-CNV, StrVCTVRE, etc.

Background: Many rapid nucleic acid testing systems have emerged to halt the development and spread of COVID-19. However, so far relatively few studies have compared the diagnostic performance between these testing systems and conventional detection systems. Here, we performed a retrospective analysis to evaluate the clinical detection performance between SARS-CoV-2 rapid and conventional nucleic acid detection system.

The high sensitivity and specificity of terahertz (THz) biosensing are both promising and challenging in DNA sample detection. This study produced and refined a flexible THz MM biosensor for ultrasensitive detection of HBV in clinical serum samples based on a gold magnetic nanoparticle-mediated rolling circle amplification (GMNPs@RCA) sandwich assay under isothermal conditions. Typically, solid-phase RCA reactions mediated by circular padlock probes (PLPs) are triggered under isothermal conditions in the presence of HBV DNA, resulting in long single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) with high fidelity and specificity.

Background: Currently, mass vaccine inoculation against coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has been being implemented globally. Rapid and the large-scale detection of serum neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) laid a foundation for assessing the immune response against SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccine. Additional assessments include the duration of antibodies and the optimal time for a heightened immune response.

State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Department of Experimental Research, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, 510060, P. R. China.

SARS-CoV-2 variants have evolved a variety of critical mutations, leading to antigenicity changes and immune escape. The recent emerging SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant attracted global attention due to its significant resistance to current antibody therapies and vaccines. Here, we profiled the mutations of Omicron and other various circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants in parallel by computational interface analysis and in vitro experimental assays.

Key Laboratory of Bioactive Substances and Resources Utilization of Chinese Herbal Medicine, Ministry of Education, Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, 100193, China. Electronic address:

As a highly toxic and widely used herbicide, atrazine poses a serious threat to food safety as well as overall environmental and human health. Due to complex matrix interference and the difficulty of signal enrichment, there is an urgent need for a convenient, fast, and ultrasensitive method that detects trace atrazine without concern for matrix effects. Here, we provide the first account of a sensitive and rapid suspension probe based on magnetic microspheres used to detect atrazine in herbs.
