Background: Malignant tumors release growth factors, promoting lymphangiogenesis in primary tumors and draining sentinel lymph nodes, ultimately facilitating lymph node metastasis. As a malignant lymphatic tumor entity, lymphangiosarcomas are characterized by low survival rates and limited treatment options. The transcription factor SOX18 plays a crucial role in both lymphatic endothelial cell differentiation and cancer-induced lymphangiogenesis.

Background: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a leading cause of heart failure, particularly in younger individuals. Low physical strength is a global risk factor for cardiovascular mortality, and physical activity and a healthy lifestyle have been shown to improve outcomes in patients with heart failure. However, inappropriate exercise may increase the risk of arrhythmias in certain individuals with DCM.

Background: Anterior shoulder instability is a common clinical problem; however, conflicting evidence exists regarding optimal treatment algorithms. We perform a comparative analysis of stabilization techniques used for recurrent anterior shoulder instability to identify the one associated with the lowest rate of recurrent instability. We additionally explore how glenoid bone loss and osseus lesions affect recurrence rates.

Introduction: Lifestyle-integrated Functional Exercise (LiFE) is an effective, individually delivered fall prevention program but comes with substantial resource requirements; hence, a group-format was developed (gLiFE). This study 1) evaluates the program content of two different LiFE formats (group vs individual) and 2) examines the relationship between predictors of training response (dose) and improvements in balance, strength, and physical activity (PA) (response).
Material And Methods: The analysis included n = 252 (gLiFE = 126, LiFE = 126) community-dwelling older adults (78.

Background: Leg length inequalities are a frequent condition in every population. It is common clinical practice to consider LLIs of 2 cm and more as relevant and to treat those. However, the amount of LLIs that need treatment is not clearly defined in literature and the effect of real LLIs on the musculoskeletal system above and below 2 cm have not been studied biomechanically before.

Purpose: To perform a systematic review and compare the functional and objective outcomes after single-bundle (SB) vs. double-bundle (DB) posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (PCLR). Where possible to pool outcomes and arrive at summary estimates of treatment effect for DB PCLR vs.

Background: Lymphedema is a condition that affects up to 130 million subjects worldwide. Since it is related to several complications and a significant reduction in terms of quality of life, it is a heavy burden not only to the patients but also for the healthcare system worldwide. Despite the development of supermicrosurgery, such as vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) and lymphovenous anastomosis LVA, the indications and outcomes of these complex groups of interventions remain a controversial topic in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery.

Background/objectives: In chronic pancreatitis (CP), progressive fibrosis of the pancreas leads to exocrine and endocrine insufficiency and, finally, to pancreatic burnout. Alcohol consumption is associated with fibrosis in the pancreas and the liver, and the activation of stellate cells plays a central role in the induction of fibrosis in both organs. However, the relationship between pancreatic burnout and liver cirrhosis (LC) is still poorly understood in patients with alcoholic CP (ACP).

Background: Existing patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) that assess knee pain and symptoms show insufficient quality regarding their psychometric properties. We developed and validated a new PROM assessing knee pain and especially patellofemoral pathologies, the COMPrehensive AaChen Knee Score (COMPACK).
Methods: We followed a three-phase process of development and validation.

Background: Osteoporosis affects mostly postmenopausal women, leading to deterioration of the microarchitectural bone structure and low bone mass, with an increased fracture risk with associated disability, morbidity and mortality. This Bayesian network meta-analysis compared the effects of current anti-osteoporosis drugs on bone mineral density.
Methods: The present systematic review and network meta-analysis follows the PRISMA extension statement to report systematic reviews incorporating network meta-analyses of health care interventions.

Department of Internal Medicine, Donetsk National Medical University, Lyman, Ukraine.
Objectives: The pancreatic burnout hypothesis postulated an increasing absence of pain with simultaneous functional insufficiency in advanced stages of chronic pancreatitis (CP). However, the underlying data remain scarce and contradictory. We aimed to analyze, first, the frequency of a pancreatic burnout in CP, and, second, its association with etiological risk factors.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Western civilization. In this pilot study we evaluated a new method for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction and heart failure by determining the typical fingerprint in the infrared (IR) spectrum of 1 microL of a dried patient serum sample by Fourier transform IR spectroscopy. For classification, cluster analysis and artificial neural networks (ANN) were applied.
