Background: Coronary care units are sophisticated clinics established to reduce deaths due to acute cardiovascular events. Current data on coronary care unit mortality rates and predictors of mortality in Turkey are very limited. The MORtality predictors in CORonary care units in TURKey (MORCOR-TURK) trial was designed to provide information on the mortality rates and predictors in patients followed in coronary care units in Turkey.

Hesperidin is a flavonoid commonly found in citrus fruits. Studies have shown that hesperidin has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antimicrobial properties, as well as its effectiveness in carcinogenesis. In this paper, we aim to investigate the molecular mechanisms of hesperidin-induced apoptosis in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cancer cells.

Industrial products containing PdCu@GO can gain access to the aquaculture environment, causing dangerous effects on living biota. In this study, the developmental toxicity of zebrafish treated with different concentrations (50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 μg/L) of PdCu@GO was investigated. The findings showed that PdCu@GO administration decreased the hatchability and survival rate, caused dose-dependent cardiac malformation.

Background And Objective: A hyperinflammatory environment is thought to be the distinctive characteristic of COVID-19 infection and an important mediator of morbidity. This study aimed to determine the effect of other immunological parameter levels, especially ferritin, as a predictor of COVID-19 mortality via decision-trees analysis.
Material And Method: This is a retrospective study evaluating a total of 2568 patients who died (n = 232) and recovered (n = 2336) from COVID-19 in August and December 2021.

BACKGROUND Loss of cervical lordosis and cervicogenic headache have similar tissue abnormalities, including weakness and atrophy in the neck muscles. Cervicogenic headache is mainly unilateral and is perceived in the occipito-temporo-frontal regions. However, it is not clear whether loss of cervical lordosis is a sign of headache with cervical origin.

Background/aim: Environmental and genetic factors (such as polymorphisms) contribute to the development of esophageal cancer (EC), but the disease's molecular genetic markers are not fully understood. The purpose of this study was to investigate previously unstudied cytochrome P450 (CYP)1A1 polymorphisms (rs2606345, rs4646421 and rs4986883) in EC.
Materials And Methods: We performed real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to identify CYP1A1 polymorphisms (rs2606345, rs4646421, and rs4986883) in 100 patients and 100 controls.

Objectives: Radical surgery for sigmoid colon cancer is commonly performed with complete mesocolic excision (CME) and apical lymph node dissection, reached by central vascular ligation (CVL) of the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) and associated extended left colon resection. However, IMA branches can be ligated selectively according to tumor location with D3 lymph node dissection (LND), economic segmental colon resection and tumorspecific mesocolon excision (TSME) if IMA is skeletonized. This study aimed to compare left hemicolectomy with CME and CVL and segmental colon resection with selective vascular ligation (SVL) and D3 LND.

Ecchymosis, as a general term, refers to discoloration of the skin due to the presence of extravasated blood into the dermis and/or subcutaneous tissue. However, it can occasionally be observed without any trauma, as a symptom of disease, a clinical condition, or even during the course of treating a disease. It is extremely important that these non-traumatic lesions are known and recognized and can be distinguished from traumatic ecchymoses by both clinicians and forensic scientists.

This preliminary study aimed to evaluate the possible damage to the male reproductive system that the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus causes by quantitatively measuring and comparing the tissue stiffness of the testis and epididymis with acoustic radiation force impulse sonoelastography in patients who have COVID-19 with a healthy control group. This prospective study was conducted between February and July 2021 with 65 cases. We used sonoelastography to evaluate male patients 18 years or older, who had applied to the urology clinic with nontesticular complaints, and were found to not have any underlying testicular pathology after a clinical-laboratory evaluation.

Valproic acid (VPA) is one of the most widely used antiepileptic drugs. The protective role of VPA and the role of the TRPM2 channel in this mechanism in developing neuronal damage due to increased pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells were not clarified. Here, we investigated the role of VPA via modulation of TRPM2 channel on cell death and oxidative neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells.
