Objective: Acute Type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is an emergency cardiovascular condition. In this current study, we aimed to investigate the prognostic importance of preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte platelet ratio (NLPR) value in predicting in-hospital mortality, after surgical treatment of ATAAD.

Patients And Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent an emergency operation as a result of ATAAD between August 2012 and August 2021 in our hospital, were retrospectively included in this study.

Acute lower extremity ischemia (ALI) is a cardiovascular emergency resulting from embolic and thrombotic causes. Although endovascular techniques have advanced, surgical thromboembolectomy is still the gold standard. Emergency thromboembolectomy surgery involves an ischemia-reperfusion injury, which also poses a risk for acute renal injury (AKI).

Background: After coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) operations, acute kidney injury (AKI) appears at 5-30% rates, and this rate increases even more in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is known as a valuable parameter that affects cardiovascular surgery outcomes. In this current study, we aimed to investigate the importance of PNI value in predicting AKI after on-pump CABG operations in insulin-dependent diabetic patients.

Objectives: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (PoAF), an important clinical condition that can occur after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) operations, may bring about cerebrovascular risks, prolong hospital stay and increase treatment costs. In this prospective study, we aimed to investigate the predictive value of HATCH score and waist/height ratio (WHR) values in revealing the development of PoAF after CABG operations.

Methods: Patients who underwent isolated CABG surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass between May 2019 and November 2019 were prospectively included in the study.

Introduction: Rhythm problems are the most observed complications following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), the most common being postoperative atrial fibrillation (PoAF), with an incidence reaching 50% of the patients. In this study, we aimed to investigate the predictive importance of prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) in predicting PoAF, which occurs after CABG accompanied by cardiopulmonary bypass.

Methods: Patients who underwent isolated CABG with cardiopulmonary bypass between June 15 and October 15, 2019, were prospectively included in the study.

Background: The incidence of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, which constitute an important disease group, is expected to rise with increasing life expectancy. The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive values of triglyceride/HDL cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio and whole blood viscosity on possible severe carotid or peripheral arterial disease in patients who were admitted to our clinic and scheduled for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Methods: This study retrospectively examined 299 patients who were admitted to our clinic and scheduled for CABG between August 1, 2015, and August 1, 2019.

Objectives: Lower extremity peripheral artery disease develops mainly due to atherosclerosis and occurs as a result of the systemic atherosclerotic process. Increased triglyceride (TG) and decreased high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) values increase atherosclerosis risk. With regard to this information, TG/HDL-C ratio is used as the atherogenic index.

The Effect of Static Stretching of Peroneal and Tibialis Anterior Muscles on Reaction Time: A Randomized Controlled Study.

Am J Phys Med Rehabil

February 2019

From the Department of Sports Medicine, Medical Faculty of Uludag University, Bursa, Turkey (US, OI, BA); and Department of Sports Medicine, Diyarbakir Gazi Yasargil Education and Research Hospital, Diyarbakir, Turkey (GA).

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the acute and chronic effects of static stretching on peroneal and tibialis anterior reaction characteristics.

Design: All 23 participants who volunteered for this study were randomly divided into static (n = 12) and control (n = 11) groups. The subjects in the static stretching group performed stretching exercises for the ankle evertor and dorsiflexor muscles 5 days a week for 6 wks.

We sought to uncover genetic drivers of hormone receptor-positive (HR) breast cancer, using a targeted next-generation sequencing approach for detecting expressed gene rearrangements without prior knowledge of the fusion partners. We identified intergenic fusions involving driver genes, including , and , in 14% (24/173) of unselected patients with advanced HR breast cancer. FISH confirmed the corresponding chromosomal rearrangements in both primary and metastatic tumors.

The present study aimed to analyze the impacts of a low back rehabilitation program accompanied with neck, shoulder and upper back exercises on pain, disability, and physical characteristics of patients with chronic low back pain. Twenty sedentary male patients with chronic low back pain participated in the study on a voluntary basis. The patients were randomly allocated into two groups: a conventional low back exercise group (CE) and a supported exercise group (SE; CE plus upper back, neck, and shoulder exercises).
