Gilaburu ( L.) is an important fruit that has been studied in recent years due to its phytochemicals and health benefits. In this study, traditionally produced vinegar made from gilaburu fruit (C-GV) was evaluated.

Real-world data on efficacy and safety of first-line alectinib treatment in advanced-stage, ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancer patients: a Turkish Oncology Group study.

In this multicenter study, the authors aimed to determine the real-life efficacy and safety of first-line alectinib. This retrospective trial included advanced-stage, ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancer patients who were treated with first-line alectinib in terms of ALK-tyrosine kinase inhibitors, regardless of previous chemotherapy. The co-primary end points were progression-free survival both for all patients and for the treatment-naive population.

In our study, we aimed to evaluate the pathological response rates and side effect profile of adding pertuzumab to the treatment of HER2+ locally advanced, inflammatory, or early-stage breast cancer. This study was conducted by the Turkish Oncology Group (TOG) with data collected from 32 centers. Our study was multicentric, and a total of 364 patients were included.

Real-Life Experience Regarding Clinical Characteristics and Treatment Outcome in Non-Cutaneous Peripheral T-Cell Lymphomas: A Multicenter Study of the Turkish Hematology Research and Education Group (ThREG).

Objective: Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) are an uncommon and quite heterogeneous group of disorders, representing only 10%-15% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Although both molecular and clinical studies have increased in recent years, we still have little knowledge regarding real-life practice with PTCLs. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of a large population-based cohort of patients presenting with systemic non-cutaneous PTCL.

For the alloreactive mBCs evaluation currently, direct Flow Cytometric (FC) analysis using the HLA tetramer staining is an option. Evaluation of alloantibodies produced by the polyclonally stimulated alloreactive mBCs in in vitro culture system seems to be another useful approach, but this needs further downstream applications.

Relationship between vitamin D in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and psoriasis patients.

Introduction: Although psoriasis and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) are associated with systemic inflammation, studies on their potential bilateral relationship are not sufficient.

Aim: To investigate vitamin D levels and receptor gene polymorphisms in patients with OSAS and psoriasis and the associations with these diseases.

Material And Methods: One hundred thirty-seven patients included in the study consisted of 4 different groups: group 1, those with both diseases; group 2, those with OSAS only; group 3, patients with psoriasis only; and group 4, healthy controls.

The impact of COVID-19 pandemic in medical waste amounts: a case study from a high-populated city of Turkey.

Unlabelled: In this study, the amount of medical waste generated in a high-populated city in Turkey between January 2018 and August 2021 was evaluated, and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on waste amounts and waste production rate was investigated. While a total of 79,027 kg/month of medical waste was produced in the city before COVID-19, this value reached 116,714 kg/month after COVID-19. The increase in the amount of medical waste due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the province was calculated as 48% on average.

The effectiveness of the ketogenic diet in drug-resistant childhood epilepsy.

Background: We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of ketogenic diet (KD) in children with various types of refractory epilepsy.

Methods: A total of 91 children (49 females) aged 3 to 193 months (median, 52 months) with drug resistant epilepsy who received KD treatment for at least 12 months were enrolled in the study. Seizure frequency, adherence to diet, reason for discontinuation of KD, and adverse effects were recorded.

The diagnostic contribution of magnetic resonance imaging in the detection of axillary metastasis after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Sentinel lymph node dissection (SLND) is a reliable method that provides axillary staging in clinical node-negative (cN0) breast cancer patients before neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). However, it is not a standard method on its own due to the high false-negative rates (FNR) reported in initially clinical node-positive patients (cN1-cN3). Enrofloxacin is one of the most widely used antibacterial drugs in feline medicine. This study investigated the effects of enrofloxacin on in vitro feline spontaneous myometrial contractility at different sexual stages. Uterine samples of the 20 queen cats at different sexual periods were placed in a tissue bath, and in vitro spontaneous stretch-induced myometrial contractions were recorded for 10 min.

Real-life comparison of afatinib and erlotinib in non-small cell lung cancer with rare EGFR exon 18 and exon 20 mutations: a Turkish Oncology Group (TOG) study.

Objectives: To compare the survival of first- and second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with rare EGFR exon 18 and exon 20 mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated survival characteristics of 125 patients with EGFR exon 18 and exon 20 mutated NSCLC who received erlotinib or afatinib as first line treatment between 2012 and 2021 from 34 oncology centres. Since exon 20 insertion is associated with TKI resistance, these 18 patients were excluded from the study.

Validity and Reliability of SCOPA Sleep Scale Turkish Version in Parkinson's Disease.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to form the Turkish adaptation of the SCOPA-SleepScale to be used in evaluating sleep quality in individuals with Parkinson's disease and to test its psychometric properties.

Method: Data for this methodological study was collected between May and December 2017 in the neurology outpatient clinic of a hospital through face to face interviews with patients with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. The sample of the study consisted of 105 patients of 18 years of age and above with no additional neurological diseases who volunteered for the study.
