The past decade has seen the development of immunotherapy for the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM), beginning with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in the relapsed and refractory setting and culminating in the market approval of chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T) and bispecific antibodies (BsAbs). The medical community is evaluating the efficacy and safety of these targeted immunotherapies, most of which currently target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) on the surface of plasma cells. Two anti-BCMA CAR-T products are available for treating relapsed or refractory MM: idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel) and ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel).

Methotrexate is a familiar chemotherapeutic preferred in a wide range of clinical fields such as leukemia, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, neoplastic and autoimmune disorders. However, methotrexate therapy has limitations as it causes severe side effects from which liver damage is the most important one. Several antioxidant compounds have been studied against methotrexate related liver toxicity, but dexpanthenol has not been experienced.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the current state of microvascular function and to investigate the effect of supervised aerobic exercise on microvascular control mechanisms and health outcomes in women with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS).
Patients And Methods: Forty female patients (mean age 51±11 years) with a diagnosis of FMS according to the American College of Rheumatology criteria and 20 healthy female controls (mean age 52±9 years) were included in the study. Microvascular blood flow was measured using a laser Doppler flowmeter (LDF) at the volar skin site of the forearm.

Objective: Uric acid (UA) is the end product of adenosine triphosphate degradation, and could increase due to hypoxia. We investigated the association of UA metabolites with nocturnal hypoxemia, apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) usage and five-year mortality.
Materials/subjects And Methods: We obtained urinary specimen before and after the night polysomnography in order to measure UA excretion and overnight change in urinary UA/creatinine ratio (ΔUA/Cr) in 75 subjects (14 controls, 15 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) without nocturnal hypoxemia (NH), 15 COPD with NH, 16 obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) without NH, 15 OSAS with NH).

Hybrid carcinomas are rare neoplasms which are characterized by two different types of tumors localized in a single topographic region of the lesion. Parotid gland is the most common involvement site of hybrid carcinomas among salivary glands. The aggressiveness of the hybrid tumor depends on its high-grade component.

Carvacrol is a well-known essential oil for its antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal and antiinflammatory properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible protective effects of carvacrol against H 2O 2 induced cellular injury on isolated pancreas islets.

Objective: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and atherosclerosis are frequently observed in uremic patients and they have appeared as an independent predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of ramipril and amlodipine on left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in nondiabetic hypertensive hemodialysis patients.
Methods: A total of 112 hemodialysis (HD) patients were included in this study.

The issue of patients' rights is relatively unknown in our country but it is often recalled when an incident of death or disability is suspected as being caused by a physician's error. However patients' rights are being violated thousands of times every day in our country. More than these patients' rights' violations, the essential point is the lack of a mechanism to claim those rights and to complain about the practices which violate them.

Background/aims: Carcinoid tumors are common tumors in the gastrointestinal tract. Certain criteria such as the depth of invasion, the localization, the tumor size, the mitotic index and the pattern of ploidy are used to determine the potential biological behavior of these tumors some of which might be malignant. The goal of this study was to assess the prognostic significance of proliferation markers (Ki67 and PCNA) in carcinoid tumors by using immunohistochemistry.

The cytoprotective effect of iloprost was studied on isolated embryonic cortical brain tissue grafts of rats, using light and transmission electronmicroscopy. The brain tissue pieces were stored either in saline or 50 ng/ml iloprost solution for 30 minutes, 3, 6, 24 hours at +4 degrees C. It was demonstrated that iloprost significantly protected the neuronal integration of the tissue pieces compared with saline preserved pieces.
