Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentary disorder characterized by white areas of the skin due to loss of epidermal melanocytes. Oxidative stress and free radicals are suggested as important phenomena in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. Myeloperoxidase is a lysosomal enzyme of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and acts as a catalyst in the production of hypochlorous acid, a powerful oxidant.

Background And Aims: Studies have already pointed out a possible pathophysiological role of oxidative and antioxidative molecules in bipolar disorder. We aimed to evaluate the activity and levels of antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD), and oxidant nitric oxide (NO), in bipolar I depressive episode (BD-DE) patients in a prospective design.
Method: 30 BD-DE patients, diagnosed according to DSM IV, and 30 healthy volunteer controls were included.

Nitric oxide (NO) has been implicated to play a role in the pathogenesis of many neuropsychiatric disorders. NO level was found high in acute manic inpatients. In this study, we aimed to assess NO level and activity of the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase (SOD), in euthymic bipolar patients.

Objective: In the present study, we aimed to investigate whether nitric oxide (NO) levels and activities of xanthine oxidase (XO), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and adenosine deaminase (ADA) are associated with Panic disorder (PD) as well as impact of psychopharmacological treatments on NO, SOD, ADA, and XO levels in PD.
Method: In this study, 32 patients and 20 healthy controls were included. The serum levels of NO, XO, SOD, and ADA were measured in the patients and controls.

A 45-year-old male with a preexcited QRS consistent with WPW syndrome was hospitalized for syncope. ECG monitoring revealed episodes of advanced atrioventricular block. An electrophysiologic study demonstrated right anteroseptal preexcitation and revealed an intermittent block in the accessory pathway and AV complete block causing long periods of spontaneous asystole.

Objective: This study was performed to determine the effect of homocysteine-lowering therapy (HLT) on endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDD) and exercise performance in patients with coronary artery disease.
Methods And Results: Among the patients who were on the waiting list for coronary intervention, 26 male patients (plasma homocysteine (Hcy) levels > 15 micromol/l) who had a focal stenosis of at least 70% in the left anterior descending artery were included in the study. The patients were matched to receive HLT (n = 15; 0.

We describe a complication after radiofrequency (RF) ablation of a left free wall accessory pathway that resulted in acute occlusion of proximal left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery in a 32-year-old male non-cocaine abuser. An interesting feature is the site of coronary artery occlusion which is remote from the RF application site. The RF energy applications were performed in the left lateral annulus remote from the LAD.

A 55-year-old male with structurally normal heart presented with sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT) and was cardioverted into sinus rhythm revealing a right bundle branch block pattern at baseline electrocardiography. Sustained monomorphic and nonsustained polymorphic VT were reproducibly inducible during electrophysiological study. During the diagnostic workup, the patient experienced fever due to hospital based pneumonia, which unmasked typical ST segment changes of Brugada syndrome.

The purpose of this study was to assess the significance of the hippocampal volume differences and its relation with risperidone treatment in schizophrenia. In schizophrenic patients who were on risperidone treatment (n = 11) and in healthy volunteers (n = 11), volumes of the hippocampi were estimated using magnetic resonance images (MRIs). A detailed systematic series of coronal MRIs of the entire brain (3 mm thickness, T(1)-weighted, TR/TE 400/10 ms) was obtained for each subject.
