Objective: To study the effect of incorporating chitosan and fluoride-loaded chitosan nanoparticles into a glass-ionomer cement (GIC) to prevent secondary caries.
Materials And Methods: A standard cervical cavity (mesio-distal width 6 mm, cervico-occlusal width 2 mm, and depth 2 mm) was prepared on 30 molars for the following restoration groups: group 1, conventional GIC restoration; group 2, chitosan (10%) modified GIC restoration; group 3, fluoride loaded chitosan nanoparticles (10%) modified GIC restoration. The restored teeth were subjected to 1,500 thermal cycles before undergoing a multi-species cariogenic biofilm challenge.

Brain clocks, which quantify discrepancies between brain age and chronological age, hold promise for understanding brain health and disease. However, the impact of diversity (including geographical, socioeconomic, sociodemographic, sex and neurodegeneration) on the brain-age gap is unknown. We analyzed datasets from 5,306 participants across 15 countries (7 Latin American and Caribbean countries (LAC) and 8 non-LAC countries).

Functional gastrointestinal system disorders are common problems in practice. The most common symptoms are abdominal pain, gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and a mixture of these, and similar symptoms can be seen in conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and celiac disease depending on the age of the patient, indicating the importance of differential diagnosis. The importance of patient management is shown by making a symptom-based diagnosis and making cost-effective, that is, limited advanced examinations.

Purpose: Compare the safety and efficacy of polyvinyl alcohol particles (PVA) versus trisacryl gelatin microspheres (Embospheres) versus hydrogel microspheres coated with polyzene-F (Embozenes) for prostatic artery embolization (PAE) to treat patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Materials And Methods: A single-center prospective cohort study from 2019 to 2023, including patients with international prostate symptom score (IPSS) ≥ 15 and/or quality of life score (QoL) ≥ 4. Allocation to embolic agents was performed chronologically: 100-300 µm PVA (n = 53), followed by 300-500 µm Embospheres (n = 50), and finally, 400 µm Embozenes (n = 50).

Background: We aimed to evaluate the performance of the current algorithm the HIV diagnosis that has been performed for four years. Results of HIV Ag/Ab tests, anti-HIV 1/2 confirmatory tests, HIV-1 RNA tests and the time for official results to be approved were evaluated.
Methods: The relationship of HIV Ag/Ab tests, anti-HIV 1/2 confirmation tests and HIV-1 RNA PCR tests, their result times and suitability to the algorithm were examined at Izmir Dokuz Eylül University between May 2017 and June 2021.
Purpose: The contribution of androgen receptors (AR) on bladder cancer has been demonstrated in pre-clinical studies, however in clinical studies, only the canonical AR (AR-FL) protein was measured by immunohistochemistry and conflicting results were obtained. To get better insight into the alterations of AR signalling, we used western blotting (WB) method and simultaneously measured both mRNA and protein levels of AR-FL and AR-V7.
Methods: 23 naive non-muscle invasive bladder cancer patients and 12 healthy individuals were included.
