Background and objective Over the past decade, the use of psychostimulants typically prescribed for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), such as methylphenidate (MP), has become popular among undergraduate students to enhance their academic performance. Despite potential health and legal repercussions, the misuse of these medications has become a significant public health issue, not only in the general population but particularly among students in medical schools across Turkey. This study investigated the prevalence of MP misuse among Turkish medical students and the factors contributing to it.

A new 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative (MeO-SODA) was synthesized, fully characterized by means of IR, NMR and HRMS data and and additionally, its ability to detect extremely acidic pH values was examined. Firstly, the characteristic behavior of MeO-SODA was examined in ten different solvents, revealing that it underwent non-radiative transitions as the hydrogen bonding capacity of solvent increased. Secondly, the absorption and fluorescence measurements for MeO-SODA were conducted across various pH levels (pH 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12), with fluorescence emission observed exclusively at pH 2.

BACKGROUND Non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI) is difficult to diagnose and has a high mortality rate. We aimed to determine the qualitative and quantitative parameters of computed tomography (CT) that can determine patient prognosis and contribute to early diagnosis in order to reduce mortality. MATERIAL AND METHODS The biphasic CT images of 40 patients, mean age 72.

Fluorescent proteins (FPs) stand as pivotal tools extensively employed across diverse biological research endeavors in various model systems. However, long-standing concerns surround their use due to the numerous side effects associated with their expression. Recent investigations have brought to light the significance of hydrogen peroxide (HO) that is associated with the maturation process of green fluorescent protein (GFP) fluorophores.

Discipline-specific terminology is a central element of the vocabulary used by dentists and scientists in the context of their professional activities and plays a critical role in the understanding of dentistry. A number of controversial terms and non-standardized definitions exist in the field of endodontology. For example, in root and canal anatomy, variations exist in the definitions of root morphology (including apical bifurcation, fusion and dilaceration), pulp chamber anatomy (including the outline of the floor, pulp horns and location of the root canal orifice), apical root canal bifurcations, canal isthmuses, accessory canals and apical foramen.

Objective: Left ventricular dyssynchrony (LVD), the loss of coordinated contraction in the left ventricle, is an early sign of heart failure. LVD can be assessed using phase analysis techniques with gated single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). This study aimed to investigate the impact of obesity on LVD through phase analysis.

The etiology of tic disorders (TDs) is not precisely known, although several lines of evidence suggest involvement of the immune system in pathogenesis. Here, we aimed to determine the expression levels of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in children with TD and compare them with those of healthy controls. Furthermore, we also evaluated their association with clinical variables in the TD group.

Background/aim: The distinctive liver framework is converted into structurally abnormal nodules as a consequence of tissue fibrosis in cirrhosis. Cardiac dysfunction in cirrhosis was described, and the term "cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM)" was coined to describe this syndrome. Recent research has shown that the contractile characteristics of the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) have a significant impact on right ventricular functions.

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common and heritable neurodevelopmental disorders which may last through the life-span. A consensus report on diagnosis and management of ADHD among Turkish youth was prepared previously. However, the participants as well as the management options were rather limited and developments in the past decade necessitated a revision and update of the consensus.
