This essay reviews an arts-based project based in Buffalo, New York, seeking to educate patients with kidney failure and their social network about the transplantation process. Through a multi-phase arts-based research project, informed by a community-based steering committee and key stakeholders, 33 educational animated videos were developed and tested for efficacy in samples of diverse patients at a regional transplant center. Animation was chosen for its potential to better explain health concepts more sensibly to patients and support knowledge dissemination to their social network, who may donate a kidney or support a recipient or donor.

Aim: This study examined decisions to use social media among those who have experienced MCDA pregnancies and how these groups influenced treatment and management decisions for these rare, complicated pregnancies.
Methods: An online mixed-methods, retrospective survey, was completed in 2021 by 624 participants who experienced MCDA pregnancies within 5 years of the study; participants were recruited from online MCDA pregnancy groups on Facebook and Twitter.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants such as fluoxetine are used in combination with the medical psychostimulant methylphenidate (Ritalin) in a variety of treatments in children and adults. Unintended co-exposure to these psychotropic medications also occurs in patients on SSRIs who abuse methylphenidate as a "cognitive enhancer" or recreational drug. Preclinical research shows that SSRIs such as fluoxetine when given in conjunction with methylphenidate potentiate addiction-related gene regulation by methylphenidate in the striatum, consistent with the known facilitatory role for serotonin in psychostimulant-induced neuronal and behavioral changes.

Evidence suggests that functional disability is associated with worse health outcomes and is concentrated in populations with high rates of concurrent social risk factors such as criminal legal involvement (CLI), making it an increasingly important issue for advocates of health equity.

Summary Of Background Data: Although pseudoangina is most commonly caused by cervical disc herniation, several cases have been described where thoracic herniation produced symptoms of pseudoangina. The neuropeptide S receptor (NPSR) has been identified as a potential therapeutic target for anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Central administration of neuropeptide S (NPS) in male mice produces anxiolytic-like effects, hyperlocomotion, and memory enhancement. Currently, the literature is limited in the number of studies investigating the effects of NPS in female test subjects despite females facing a higher prevalence of anxiety-related pathology, as well as greater risk for adverse effects while taking psychoactive drugs.

Problem: Accommodations for injured and disabled surgical providers have to balance an individual's needs with measures that ensure sterility requirements, patient and provider safety. The highly specialized nature of the surgical environment poses challenges when implementing changes in the operating room and literature is limited on adaptive surgical hand preparation techniques necessary to maximize a disabled medical student's active participation in their surgical clerkship.
Intervention: This paper presents a detailed account of the development and implementation of an adaptive surgical hand preparation designed to address mobility needs, enabling a student's active participation and education in the surgical curriculum.
