Aim: This study aimed to develop and validate a Japanese version of the Public Attitudes Toward Epilepsy (PATE-J) Scale to measure attitudes towards epilepsy among the general Japanese population.
Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional design using an online survey of 537 participants from the general public in Japan, with follow-up surveys at 2 weeks and 3 months. The PATE Scale was translated following standard guidelines and validated by conducting confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on the complete data set to assess the original two-factor structure of the PATE Scale.

Introduction: Mental disorders are common among prison inmates, with a high rate of recidivism found among those with severe mental disorders. In Japan, the number of inmates with mental disorders has been increasing with the increasing rate of recidivism. Prisoners need an uninterrupted connection to post-release support to prevent them from being incarcerated again.

This study examined the shoplifting behavior of inmates with EDs at our medical correctional center, with the objective of delineating their characteristics, identifying an adequate treatment plan, and preventing recidivism.
Methods: The participants consisted of 32 incarcerated patients with EDs (22 females, 10 males) charged with shoplifting, from a medical correctional center in East Japan.
Persistent methamphetamine-associated psychosis (pMAP) is a disorder similar to schizophrenia, so much so that the differences in clinical symptoms and treatment response between the two remain unknown. In this study, we compared the features of pMAP with those of schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD). This was a retrospective quasi-experimental case-control study of inmates in a medical prison.

Aim: To clarify the mechanism by which pitavastatin reduced cardiovascular (CV) events more effectively than atorvastatin in the TOHO Lipid Intervention Trial Using Pitavastatin (TOHO-LIP), the changes in (Δ) non-heparinized serum level of lipoprotein lipase mass (LPL mass) during administration of the respective statins were investigated.
Methods: From TOHO-LIP data, 223 hypercholesterolemic patients with any CV risks followed at Toho University Sakura Medical Center were analyzed. The patients were randomized to pitavastatin (2 mg/day) group (n=107) or atorvastatin (10 mg/day) group (n=116), and followed for 240 weeks.

Aim: In the TOHO Lipid Intervention Trial Using Pitavastatin (TOHO-LIP), a multicenter randomized controlled trial, pitavastatin significantly reduced cardiovascular (CV) events compared to atorvastatin in patients with hypercholesterolemia. To investigate the mechanism by which pitavastatin preferentially prevents CV events, we investigated the relationship between CV events and cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) using the TOHO-LIP database.
Methods: For the subgroup analysis, we selected patients from a single center, Toho University Sakura Medical Center.
