Background: Atrial volume index and atrial volume have recently been identified as predictors of atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence following electrical cardioversion or radiofrequency ablation. However, most studies have reported the relationship between LAVI/LAV and AF recurrence, whereas there is little information on the relationship between RAVI/RAV and AF recurrence. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the relationship between the risk of AF recurrence and RAVI/RAV in patients with AF who underwent electrical cardioversion or radiofrequency ablation.

Changes to blood-brain barrier structure and function may affect the delivery of drugs into the brain. It is worthwhile to exploring more study on how the blood-brain barrier changes in structure and function and how that affects drug transport in high-altitude hypoxic environment. The DIA high-throughput sequencing technique indicate that the rats blood-brain barrier has been identified to have 7252 proteins overall and 8 tight junction proteins, among which Claudin-7 was a plateau-specific tight junction protein under high-altitude hypoxia, and based on the interaction network study, 2421 proteins are found to interact with one another, with ZO-1 being the primary target.

Traditional Chinese medicine with rich resources in China and definite therapeutic effects on complex diseases demonstrates great development potential. However, the complex composition, the unclear pharmacodynamic substances and mechanisms of action, and the lack of reasonable methods for evaluating clinical safety and efficacy have limited the research and development of innovative drugs based on traditional Chinese medicine. The progress in cutting-edge disciplines such as artificial intelligence and biomimetics, especially the emergence of cell painting and organ-on-a-chip, helps to identify and characterize the active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine based on the changes in model characteristics, thus providing more accurate guidance for the development and application of traditional Chinese medicine.

Wolfberry, esteemed as a traditional Chinese medicinal material and functional food, is replete with nutrients and boasts a diverse array of health benefits, including hypoglycemic, antitumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-enhancing properties. Notably, inflammation is a pivotal factor in the onset and progression of numerous diseases. Despite this, there is a paucity of research on the comprehensive evaluation of the components found in different wolfberries, and the exploration of their primary active components is limited.

Background: Chronic gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection is a common gastrointestinal disorder. Despite the high prevalence of Hp infection and chronic gastritis in the Tibetan Plateau, there is a lack of studies elucidating the influence of plateau hypoxia on Hp-induced gastritis. This study aimed to investigate the impact of high-altitude hypoxia on Hp-induced gastritis, particularly focusing on pathological manifestations and inflammatory responses.

Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1) has emerged as a key regulator in the treatment of cancer metastasis because of its involvement in the formation of cell plate pseudopods and effects on cell migration. In this study, we found that incarvine C, a natural product isolated from Incarvillea sinensis, and its seven analogues exhibited antitumour activity by inhibiting cell cytoskeleton formation, with moderate cytotoxicity. Accordingly, these compounds inhibited the cytoskeleton-mediated migration and invasion of MDA-MB-231 cells, with inhibition rates ranging from 37.

This study aims to elucidate the gut microbiota profiles in IBD patients and compare them with healthy controls in a western city of China.
Methods: We conducted a multicenter case-control study from the end of 2020, using 16S rRNA gene sequencing ( = 36) and metagenomic sequencing ( = 12) to analyze the gut microbiota of newly diagnosed IBD patients, including those with Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC).

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has a high global prevalence and affects approximately one-third of adults, owing to high-fat dietary habits and a sedentary lifestyle. The role of hypoxia-inducible factor 2α (HIF-2α) in NAFLD progression remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the effects of chronic hypoxia on NAFLD progression by examining the role of hypoxia-inducible factor 2α (HIF-2α) activation and that of hepatic stellate cell (HSC)-derived myofibroblasts through glutaminolysis.

Background: Neutrophil infiltration and hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction induced by hypobaric hypoxic stress are vital in high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). Myeloperoxidase (MPO), an important enzyme in neutrophils, is associated with inflammation and oxidative stress and is also involved in the regulation of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), an enzyme that catalyzes the production of the vasodilatory factor nitric oxide (NO). However, the role of neutrophil MPO in HAPE's progression is still uncertain.

Background: The gut microbiota-dependent metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) has recently been recognized to be one of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, there is a scarcity of data on the relationship between circulating TMAO levels and hypertension in patients with CVD. Meta analysis and a dose-response relationship were used in this study to assess the relationship between circulating trimethylamine N-oxide levels and the risk of hypertension in patients with CVD.

Vanillic acid (VA) is a bioactive chemical present in many food plants and fruits. It has been shown to have a protective effect on pulmonary tissues in monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension, as well as an intervention effect on right ventricular remodeling. The purpose of this study was to develop and test a reliable method for assessing VA utilizing ultra-performance liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry using caffeic acid as the internal standard.

The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in maintaining host nutrition, metabolism, and immune homeostasis, particularly in extreme environmental conditions. However, the regulatory mechanisms of the gut microbiota in animal organisms hypobaric hypoxia exposure require further study. We conducted a research by comparing SD rats treated with an antibiotic (ABX) cocktail and untreated SD rats that were housed in a low-pressure oxygen chamber (simulating low pressure and hypoxic environment at 6000 m altitude) for 30 days.
