Programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) small interfering RNA (siRNA) achieves tumor immunotherapy by restoring the immune response of T cells, but the efficacy of PD-1/PD-L1 monotherapy is relatively low. While immunogenic cell death (ICD) can improve the response of most tumors to anti-PD-L1 and enhance tumor immunotherapy. Herein, a targeting peptide GE11-functionalized dual-responsive carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) micelle (G-CMssOA) is developed for simultaneous delivery of PD-L1 siRNA and doxorubicin (DOX) in a complex form of DOX·PD-L1 siRNA (D&P).

The growing evidence implies that tumor cells need to increase NAD+ levels by upregulating NAD+ biosynthesis to satisfy their growth demand. NAD+ biosynthesis metabolism is implicated in tumor progression. Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignant malignancy in the world.

Background: Hypoxia critically drives malignant tumor development and is characteristic of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where HIF-1α plays a crucial role. The ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2K (UBE2K) is known to participate in the advancement of several human cancers. However, the role of UBE2K in HCC or whether it is a hypoxia-responsive gene remains to be further identified.

In clinical work, the realization of an early diagnosis of Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is primarily based on conventional computed tomography (CT), MR angiography, transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound, and neurological assessments. However, the association between imaging manifestations and clinical findings is insufficiently perfect, particularly in SAH patients in acute phases with a lower amount of blood. The establishment of a direct, rapid and ultra-sensitive detection method based on electrochemical biosensors has emerged as a new competitive challenge in disease biomarkers research.

Aims: To investigate whether recurrent gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with an increased risk of preterm birth.
Methods: We conducted a prospective population-based cohort study covering all live singleton births born to nulliparous and multiparous mothers aged 20 years and older in Qingdao, from 2018 to 2020 (n = 105,528). Preterm birth (<37 gestational weeks) was classified into moderate preterm birth (32-36 weeks of gestation) and very preterm birth (<32 weeks).

Background: The extent to which maternal antibodies against the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAb) acquired transplacentally affect the immune responses to the hepatitis B vaccine (HBVac) in infants is still uncertain.
Objective: To explore the impact of the HBsAb on the immune response to the HBVac in a mouse model.
Methods: According to the doses of the HBVac (2, 5 μg) injected, 267 BALB/c mice were divided into two groups.

Diabetic keratopathy (DK), the diabetic complication in the cornea, is characterized by the delayed epithelial regeneration and sensory nerve degeneration. The involvement of limbal stem/progenitor cells (LSPCs) dysfunction has been reported, however the pathogenic mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we confirmed the dysfunction of LSPCs in diabetic mouse and human corneas.

Purpose: Total ankle replacement (TAR) or ankle arthrodesis (AA) is the main surgical treatment for end-stage ankle osteoarthritis. However, the therapeutic effect of the two surgical procedures at different follow-up times remains controversial. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to compare the short-term, medium-term, and long-term safety and efficiency of the two modern surgical treatments.

Research over the past two decades has confirmed that noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), which are abundant in cells from yeast to vertebrates, are no longer "junk" transcripts but functional regulators that can mediate various cellular and physiological processes. The dysregulation of ncRNAs is closely related to the imbalance of cellular homeostasis and the occurrence and development of various diseases. In mammals, ncRNAs, such as long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs), have been shown to serve as biomarkers and intervention targets in growth, development, immunity, and disease progression.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the diagnostic efficacy of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) combined with tumor markers alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and des-γ-carboxyl prothrombin (DCP) for primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC). A total of 70 patients with PHC (PHC group), 42 patients with liver cyst (benign liver disease group (BLDG)) and 30 healthy people (healthy group (HG)) were selected as the research objects. CEUS and DCE-MRI were performed by American GE Vivid E9 color Doppler ultrasound system and Siemens 1.

Ubiquitin-specific-processing proteases 35 (USP35) is an under-characterized deubiquitinase and its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. Here, we focus on delineating the impact of USP35 on CRC cell proliferation and chemo-resistance, as well as the possible regulatory mechanism. By examining the genomic database and clinical samples, we found that USP35 was overexpressed in CRC.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) results from a complex interaction between genes and the environment, and occupational exposures are an underappreciated risk factor. Until now, little research attention has been paid to the potential impact of occupational risk factor exposure on the COPD in China. The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze the role of occupational risk factor exposure on the severity and progression of COPD for exploring new prevention strategies for this disease.

Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are important subsets of innate immune cells that regulate mucosal immunity. ILCs include natural killer cells, innate lymphoid cells-1 (ILC1s), ILC2s, and ILC3s, which have extremely important roles in the immune system. In this review, we summarize the regulation of mRNA stability mediated through various factors in ILCs (e.

Deep cutaneous fungal infection (DCFI) is difficult to be treated by the traditional topical application due to low drug transdermal efficiency, poor fungicidal effect, and easy to develop drug resistance. Here, we report a novel biodegradable microneedle patch (CuS/PAF-26 MN) for DCFI treatment. CuS/PAF-26 MN is composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) and sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC-Na), which can simultaneously deliver copper sulfide nanoenzyme (CuS NE) and antimicrobial peptide (PAF-26).

Background: The risk of maternal gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) may be influenced by pregnancies conceived through assisted reproductive technology (ART). However, the influence of the dosage of B vitamins (folate, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12) on GDM weren't considered. Thus, we hypothesized that periconceptional B vitamins could modify maternal GDM in singleton pregnancies conceived by ART.

Introduction: Chemokine-like factor (CKLF)-like MARVEL transmembrane domain containing 6 (CMTM6) is a protein localized to the cell membrane and is known for its ability to co-localize with PD-L1 on the plasma membrane, prevent PD-L1 degradation, and maintain PD-L1 expression on the cell membrane. CMTM6 is highly expressed and plays an important role in various tumors such as oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and colorectal cancer (CRC), however, its role in Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is unclear.
Methods: In this paper, to investigate the role of CMTM6 in GBM, we analyzed the expression of CMTM6 in GBM, the interaction with CMTM6 and the associated genes by bioinformatics.
