Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) remains a significant challenge in neonatal care, the pathogenesis of which potentially involves altered lipid metabolism. Given the critical role of lipids in lung development and the injury response, we hypothesized that specific lipid species could serve as therapeutic agents in BPD. This study aimed to investigate the role of the lipid Phosphatidylcholine (PC) (16:0/14:0) in modulating BPD pathology and to elucidate its underlying mechanisms of action.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have a role in monitoring the appearance and progression of a great many diseases. They are useful markers for the prognosis and diagnosis of some diseases. In previous studies, the expression patterns of mRNAs, circRNAs, and lncRNAs related to immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy have not been sufficiently discussed.

Precision and intelligence in evaluating the complexities of middle ear structures are required to diagnose auriculotemporal and ossicle-related diseases within otolaryngology. Due to the complexity of the anatomical details and the varied etiologies of illnesses such as trauma, chronic otitis media, and congenital anomalies, traditional diagnostic procedures may not yield accurate diagnoses. This research intends to enhance the diagnosis of diseases of the auriculotemporal region and ossicles by combining High-Resolution Spiral Computed Tomography (HRSCT) scanning with Deep Learning Techniques (DLT).

A 44-year-old male sustained trauma to his foot leading to a 5-cm defect of the first metatarsal bone and infection of the bone by . Osteotomy is the most suitable method for treating large metatarsal defects complicated with osteomyelitis, however few reports have been published on this challenging approach. In this case, osteotomy and external fixation for distraction were performed.

Immunoglobulin A nephropathy is a complex autoimmune disease with various underlying causes and significant clinical heterogeneity. There are large individual differences in its development, and the etiology and pathogenesis are still poorly understood. While it is known that immunobiological factors play a significant role in the pathophysiology of immunoglobulin A nephropathy, the specific nature of these factors has yet to be fully elucidated.

Background: We conducted this meta-analysis to investigate the potential association between maternal smoking, alcohol and caffeinated beverages consumption during pregnancy and the risk of childhood brain tumors (CBTs).
Methods: A thorough search was carried out on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Internet to identify pertinent articles. Fixed or random effects model was applied to meta-analyze the data.

Background: The role of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation status for glioma stratification and prognosis is established. While structural magnetic resonance image (MRI) is a promising biomarker, it may not be sufficient for non-invasive characterisation of IDH mutation status. We investigated the diagnostic value of combined diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and structural MRI enhanced by a deep radiomics approach based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and support vector machine (SVM), to determine the IDH mutation status in Central Nervous System World Health Organization (CNS WHO) grade 2-4 gliomas.

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) has become a major public health problem worldwide. Most OP treatments are based on the inhibition of bone resorption, and it is necessary to identify additional treatments aimed at enhancing osteogenesis. In the bone marrow (BM) niche, bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are exposed to a hypoxic environment.

Heat stroke induced cerebral damage via neuroinflammation. This study aimed to approach whether heat stress would promote NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome via reactive oxygen species (ROS). The mice were randomly divided into the sham group, the heat stress group, and the heat stress + TEMPOL (ROS scavenger) group.

NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is an intracellular sensing protein complex that possesses NACHT, leucine-rich repeat, and pyrin domain, playing a crucial role in innate immunity. Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome leads to the production of pro-inflammatory cellular contents, such as interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18, and induction of inflammatory cell death known as pyroptosis, thereby amplifying or sustaining inflammation. While a balanced inflammatory response is beneficial for resolving damage and promoting tissue healing, excessive activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and pyroptosis can have harmful effects.

Introduction: The incidence of primary liver cancer (PLC) has experienced a significant global increase, primarily attributed to the rise in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Unfortunately, HCC is often diagnosed in advanced stages, leaving patients with limited treatment options. Therefore, transformation therapy is a crucial approach for long-term survival and radical resection in patients with advanced HCC.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a pathogenesis that remains elusive with restricted therapeutic strategies and efficacy. This study aimed to investigate the role of SMG5, a crucial component in nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) that degrades mRNA containing a premature termination codon, in HCC pathogenesis and therapeutic resistance. We demonstrated an elevated expression of SMG5 in HCC and scrutinized its potential as a therapeutic target.

Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography is an emerging technique for assessing right ventricular (RV) volume and function, but 3D-RV normal values from a large Chinese population are still lacking. The aim of the present study was to establish normal values of 3D-RV volume and function in healthy Chinese volunteers. A total of 1117 Han Chinese volunteers from 28 laboratories in 20 provinces of China were enrolled, and 3D-RV images of 747 volunteers with optimal image quality were ultimately analyzed by a core laboratory.

Introduction: Liposarcoma constitutes a prevalent subtype of soft tissue sarcoma, represents approximately 20% of all sarcomas. However, conventional chemotherapeutic agents have shown restricted effectiveness in treating liposarcoma patients. Accumulating evidence indicates that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have the characteristic of migration to tumor site, promote or suppress tumors.

It is well-established that multi-scale porous scaffolds can guide axonal growth and facilitate functional restoration after spinal cord injury (SCI). In this study, we developed a novel mussel shell-inspired conductive scaffold for SCI repair with ease of production, multi-scale porous structure, high flexibility, and excellent biocompatibility. By utilizing the reducing properties of polydopamine, non-conductive graphene oxide (GO) was converted into conductive reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and crosslinkedwithin the mussel shells.
