Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, and the development of new diagnostic and treatment methods is crucial. Manganese-based nanomaterials (MnNMs) have emerged as a focal point in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment due to their multifunctional properties. These nanomaterials have been extensively explored as contrast agents for various imaging technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), photoacoustic imaging (PAI), and near-infrared fluorescence imaging (NIR-FL).

Chronic stress-induced anxiodepression is a common health problem, however its potential neurocircuitry mechanism remains unclear. We used behavioral, patch-clamp electrophysiology, chemogenetic, and optogenetic approaches to clarify the response of the lateral hypothalamus (LH) and the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) to stress, confirmed the structural connections between the LH and mPFC, and investigated the role of the LH-mPFC pathway in chronic stress-induced anxiodepression symptoms. Unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) caused anxiodepression-like behaviors, including anxiety, anhedonia, and despair behaviors.

We report the case of a 51-year-old woman who was initially hospitalized in the respiratory department with cough and fever. Urinary computed tomography (CT) showed two different incidental masses in the right kidney. The patient underwent a radical right nephrectomy without lymph node dissection and postoperative adjuvant treatment.

NF1 is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease, with a prevalence of at least 1 in 4000-5000 population. The diagnosis criteria of NF1 included typical manifestations such as café-au-lait spots, frecking in the axilla or inguinal region, multiple neurofibromas, Lisch nodeules, and distinctive osseous lesions. Genetic testing shows NF1 mutation.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, while macrophages as key players in plaque progression and destabilization are promising targets for atherosclerotic plaque imaging. Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI) has emerged as a powerful noninvasive imaging technique for the evaluation of atherosclerotic plaques within arterial walls. However, the visualization of macrophages within atherosclerotic plaques presents considerable challenges due to the intricate pathophysiology of the disease and the dynamic behavior of these cells.

Defective autophagy is linked to proinflammatory diseases. However, the mechanisms by which autophagy limits inflammation remain elusive. Here, we found that the pan-FGFR inhibitor LY2874455 efficiently activated autophagy and suppressed expression of proinflammatory factors in macrophages stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Clinical studies have shown that the mediodorsal thalamus (MD) may play an important role in the development of depression. However, the molecular and circuit mechanisms by which the mediodorsal thalamus (MD) participates in the pathological processes of depression remain unclear. Here, we show that in male chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) mice, the calcium signaling activity of glutamatergic neurons in MD is reduced.

Background: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an advanced and noninvasive technology that uses pulse stimulation to treat cognitive impairment. However, its specific effects have always been mixed with those of cognitive training, and the optimal parameter for Alzheimer's disease (AD) intervention is still ambiguous.
Objective: This study aimed to summarize the therapeutic effects of pure rTMS on AD, excluding the influence of cognitive training, and to develop a preliminary rTMS treatment plan.

Objectives: Dexmedetomidine (Dex) is a potent α2-adrenergic receptor(α2-AR) agonist that has been shown to protect against sepsis-induced lung injury, however, the underlying mechanisms of this protection are not fully understood. Autophagy and the Smad2/3 signaling pathway play important roles in sepsis-induced lung injury, but the relationship between Dex and Smad2/3 is not clear. This study aimed to investigate the role of autophagy and the Smad2/3 signaling pathway in Dex-mediated treatment of sepsis-induced lung injury.

Glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) shows great efficiency against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but the detailed mechanism is unclear, which has limited its clinical application. Herein, we investigated the potential targets of GA against NSCLC by activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) technology and the combination of histopathology and proteomics validation. In vitro and in vivo results indicated GA significantly inhibited NSCLC via promotion of peroxiredoxin-6 (Prdx6) and caspase-3 (Casp3)-mediated mitochondrial apoptosis.

Na/K-ATPase (NKA) plays an important role in the central nervous system. However, little is known about its function in the microglia. Here, we found that NKAα1 forms a complex with the purinergic P2X7 receptor (P2X7R), an adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP)-gated ion channel, under physiological conditions.

Chondrocyte senescence has recently been proposed as a key pathogenic mechanism in the etiology of osteoarthritis (OA). Nevertheless, the precise molecular mechanisms underlying chondrocyte senescence remain poorly understood. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted an investigation into the involvement of Sirtuin 4 (Sirt4) in chondrocyte senescence.

Background: Malaria remains a global health burden, and the emergence and increasing spread of drug resistance to current antimalarials poses a major challenge to malaria control. There is an urgent need to find new drugs or strategies to alleviate this predicament. Celastrol (Cel) is an extensively studied natural bioactive compound that has shown potentially promising antimalarial activity, but its antimalarial mechanism remains largely elusive.
