Diabetic gastroparesis (DGP), a prevalent complication of diabetes, is characterized by delayed gastric emptying and inflammation. The dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus (DMV) plays a crucial role in modulating gastric function via the vagus nerve. Neuregulin 1 (NRG1), which is present in the DMV and influences the autonomic nervous system, has an unclear role in DGP.

Transcription factor PBX4 regulates limb development and haematopoiesis in mice.

Cell Prolif

May 2024

State Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Reproductive Biology, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

The mammalian Pre-B cell leukaemia transcription factors 1-4 (PBX1-4) constitutes the PBC class of the homeodomain (HD)-containing proteins, which play important roles in diverse developmental processes. The functions and the underlying molecular mechanisms of PBX1-3 but not PBX4 have been extensively studied, and they have been reported to direct essential morphogenetic processes and organogenesis. In the present study, we generated knockin mice of FLAG-tagged PBX4 and the Pbx4 knockout (KO) mice and carried out in-depth characterisation of PBX4 expression and function.

CircMMP2(6,7) Cooperates with β-Catenin and PRMT5 to Disrupt Bone Homeostasis and Promote Breast Cancer Bone Metastasis.

Cancer Res

January 2024

Molecular Diagnosis and Gene Testing Center, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China.

Unlabelled: The bone is the most common site of distant metastasis of breast cancer, which leads to serious skeletal complications and mortality. Understanding the mechanisms underlying breast cancer bone metastasis would provide potential strategies for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer bone metastasis. In this study, we identified a circular RNA that we named circMMP2(6,7) that was significantly upregulated in bone metastatic breast cancer tissues and correlated with breast cancer-bone metastasis.

HSF1 Protects Sepsis-Induced Acute Lung Injury by Inhibiting NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation.

Front Immunol

June 2022

Sepsis Translational Medicine Key Laboratory of Hunan Province, Central South University, Changsha, China.

As an important transcription factor, heat shock factor 1 (HSF1) plays an endogenous anti-inflammation role in the body and can alleviate multiple organ dysfunction caused by sepsis, which contributes to an uncontrolled inflammatory response. The NLRP3 inflammasome is a supramolecular complex that plays key roles in immune surveillance. Inflammation is accomplished by NLRP3 inflammasome activation, which leads to the proteolytic maturation of IL-1β and pyroptosis.
