Methods: In this study, the serum samples from three distinct groups-comprising patients diagnosed with asthma, bronchiolitis, and a healthy control group-underwent comprehensive non-targeted metabolomics analysis and targeted eicosanoid profiling.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the common metabolic diseases worldwide, and studies have found significant differences in the composition and ratio of intestinal flora between patients with T2DM and normal glucose tolerance, and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) may modulate the composition of the intestinal microbiota thereby alleviating the hyperglycemic state. We conducted a meta-analysis and systematic review of existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to assess the efficacy of FMT in T2DM.
Methods: We conducted a computer search of PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science to screen randomized controlled trials studies on FMT treatment for T2DM and extracted data from studies that met inclusion criteria.

Two chaperones, Atp23p and Atp10p, were previously shown to regulate the assembly of yeast mitochondrial ATP synthase, and extra expression of ATP23 was found to partially rescue an atp10 deletion mutant, by an unknown mechanism. Here, we identified that the residues 112-115 (LRDK) of Atp23p were required for its function in assisting assembly of the synthase, and demonstrated both functions of Atp23p, processing subunit 6 precursor and assisting assembly of the synthase, were required for the partial rescue of atp10 deletion mutant. By chasing labeling with isotope S-methionine, we found the stability of subunit 6 of the synthase increased in atp10 null strain upon overexpression of ATP23.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether liberal blood transfusion strategies contribute to infection risk in orthopedic patients by analyzing randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Methods: RCTs with liberal versus restrictive red blood cell (RBC) transfusion strategies were identified by searching PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from their inception to July 2019.

We confirm the stability of mcDNA-based CAR T cell generating platform, and investigate the antitumor activity of CD44-CAR T cells against hepatocellular carcinoma both in vitro and in vivo.
Materials And Methods: We fused anti-CD44 scFv structure with transmembrane domain and intracellular domain.

Angiotensin II (AngII) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hypertension and associated renal injuries. To elucidate the molecular mechanism by which AngII induces renal damage, we found that AngII infusion significantly induced CYP4A14 expression in renal proximal tubule cells (RPTCs) with marked increases in blood pressure and proteinuria. Renal production of the major CYP4A metabolite, 20-HETE, was also significantly increased in the AngII-treated mice.

MICA/MICB gene polymorphisms are related to several cancers and infectious diseases, but there are no reports on the association between MICA/MICB gene polymorphisms and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. To clarify the association between MICA/MICB gene polymorphisms and infection of RSV in children, we collected fresh blood samples from paediatric patients with and without pneumonia after RSV infection. The MICA/MICB alleles were characterized by PCR sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP) and PCR sequence-based genotyping (PCR-SBT), and then, the frequency of the MICA/MICB alleles and haplotypes was calculated.

Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between miR-211-5p and SOX11, and the effects of their interaction on the proliferation, viability, and invasion of human thyroid cancer (TC) cells.
Methods: We used quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) to determine the expression of miR-211-5p and SOX11mRNA in the thyroid tumorous and the adjacent tissues. The target relationship between miR-211-5p and SOX11 was confirmed using dual luciferase reporter gene assay.
